Technical Question about Lenz 10xx decoders

Hello All,

I have ordered a couple of TCS VR1.5 regulators to experiment with as there are a few “close quarters” applications that will not accommodate my usual LM317TZ solution. According to the TCS website, one of the inputs to the VR is to be connected to the decoder’s ground (the other is standard blue +). After a conversation with John at TCS to confirm the ground on their A4X decoder, I have come to the conclusion that discovery of this ground point on other decoders may not be readily apparent (or accessible).

My challange is to find the required connection point on Lenz series 1024/25/35 decoders. Any input (excuse the pun) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce

The technician is right. You would need a schematic of the decoder to try and find a ground point past the output side of the decoder’s regulator. Most decoders won’t have one because of the logics- or computerization of the components past the device’s own rectification, and regulation.

In other words, you are stuck.
