Teen Railfan Place

Well since were kinda ordered to close shop on the old one, I figured I’d start the new one. Lets kick this year off right what do you guys say huh?

Mmmmm, sounds good to me!

How’s the railfannin out your way?

Good job for starting it, I was last minute invited to a New Year’s party, so I couldn’t…

Railfanning ATM is total crap…it’s very dark, too warm, and not winter enough. Plus, as I type, I’m trying to bring my computer into what could in theory be defined as an operational state…old POS…

Hey, could some of you give me some photography pointers. I have noticed some excellent pictures on the previous thread and would like some pointers.

Matt is one heck of a good photographer.

Do you have any pics. Eric?

Eric, I have 2 pix for you. A UP Challenger, and a UP Dash9.

Enjoy!!!

Not on this computer, that avatar is the only one. Colin thank you those G scales frekin rocks!!! LONG LIVE ARMOUR YELLOW AND HARBOR MIST GREY!

Eric, your welcome.

What you been up to boy?

The usual, running trains at the location of the photos, taking lots of photos, creating a wireless network for my house, playing XBOX360, and hanging out with friends and family. How about you? How’s the N Scale layout coming along?

hey its my first post of the new year! tmccman:nice photos im not one for u.p. but the garden looks good.

Thanks Oscale, I wish the layout was mine, but I help out there a lot. I am planning a layout for my backyard, probably 3 mainlines, a logging line, a yard, sidings, a lot of industries, a small town, a bridge or two, and a water feature. I will probably plant a small forest of dwarf evergreen trees so the trains aren’t always visible.

Lance: I can’t really give tips for general photographs, only specifics! The best advice I can give right now is to practice, practice, practice…and make sure to use a tripod as much as possible. Which I forgot to bring to the light show…so I had to use the mini-tripod for everything, which is a PAIN. (I always carry a little tripod with me at all times, just in case)

Last night I went to a light show at the zoo, and guess what it was called…

Once in, we were greeted by a horse and cart…

Monkey trees! The monkey flashes across the rope, but because of the exposure, I got it in all its stages.

A tunnel of candy canes!

Not totally sure what happened with this picture…Tiger on a gift shop!

“‘Cause the power you’re supplyin’…it’s electrifying!”

I tried some funky ones that would be my parents in sharp focus with a bunch of blurry lights, but…they didn’t work out all that well.

The same photo, with really high contrast to appeal to the druggies! [:P]

My little N scale is progressing nicely. Dont ever let my borrow that XBOX if yours. It wouldn’t be returned in one piece. LOL

Why don’t you like video games? I don’t play it often…[:I] I just finished a round of Need For Speed:Carbon. One heck of a good game.

I know what you mean on the railfanning end of things Matt. Around here it was cloudy, rainy and just general gloomy-dark for almost all but one day of my Christmas Break (although I did get to take advantage of that day). Of course, the day I go back to school though, mister sun decides to show up! And, it’s been in the 50s around here! I just want some snow to do some winter shots, none of this 50 degree weather…

I did get a little Model Railroading done though over break, so I guess the one advantage of gloomy weather is that it forces me into the basement.

Noah

Down here we haven’t seen snow in over a year.
