How many teenage railfans are on this forum? I know you guys are out there. I turned 17 yesterday. I think it’s great to see that there are young people who like trains on this forum, considering that I personally don’t know any where I live. Thankfully I’m not the only member of my generation who’s a railfan. What are your guys’ thoughts on being a young railfan?
I’m a teenage railfan, I’ve been one for years.
Hey Sask,
I’m 15 and have been a railfan for as long as I can remember, I am also a pretty good athority on ALCo locomotives [:D] If you have a question about an ALCo locomotive, post it in the ALCo diesel locomotive thread: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6853 .[;)]
I’ve also been a railfan since I was about 4 or 5, it runs in my family really, and I’m 14. I’m the one that posted the Should I Be An Engineer Post, because not only am I a railfan, I want to be an engineer too.
Hi there. I’m 17, and I’ve been a rail fan since 4-5, because the day care I went to had a CSX branch line run behind the playground. I remember all of the kids running to the fence when a train came, signaling the engineer to blow the horn. Trains still pass here with some frequency everyday, though they can be short. For those wondering, it’s the old Western Maryland line that runs to Hanover, PA. I live in Hampstead, MD, which is NNW of Baltimore. It’s about a 45 minute drive to Baltimore.
Im not one my self but one of the most active people on my websites forum is a teenager who rides his bike everywhere to get his photo’s. And i get them almost daily. Your teenage enthuisiasm(sp) is a good thing.
Stay safe
I’m 18 (19 next week), and have been a railfan for as long as i can remember. I have had many different model layouts, and i get to see many trains in Philadelphia and bordering area’s from Conrail, NS, CSX, Amtrak, Septa, and NJ transit, a million good spots to watch them from.
Hi there. I’m 16. I have been a railfan for as long as i can remember. I’m planning for a career with the Alaska Railroad.
Stay off tracks.
I’ve been one for 23 years!
Just kidding. But I have been one since I was about 6 yrs old. My first photos were of trains. Of course, this was many years ago…
Does being 53 but still thinking like a 18 year old count?
I’m Currently 12 but will be 13 on October 10.

Hate to dissapoint you… But anyone any age is welcome.[:)][:)][^]
Thanks Alaskaman, I was beginning to think only younger guys and gals could be railfans. Glad I was wrong!
I’ve been once since the dawn of time… or since i was born, rather. I’ve always admired Trains, and ever since i was 3 i knew one day i would work with them.
What? Teenager?

I am 17 and have been a railfan since about 11. My dad had his boat at a boatyard right by the CSX line to Miami, Fla.The only thing I had to d when he was there working was watch the trains, and it stuck with me.
I’m 17 and a railfan, and have been a railfan as far back as I can remember. I think by now my blood is equal parts creosote, bunker C, and valve oil.
I’ve been a railfan since I don’t even know when. I’m 16 know, and I’ve gotten alot into B&W photography. I just visited the Nevada Northern earlier this month and took around three rolls. I highly reccomend the trip, the line to Ruth runs right by the highway and through town, so its like one continuous photo runby.
I would never think there are so many teens on this forum… any girls?
