Sure, why not.
As long as you get them up high enough so the trains have clearance. Of course you can.
I think 22’ is the clearance over tracks.

Phone poles are one of those (detail) things I started to pay attention to after getting back into the hobby. In and around the city but more so when driving through the Rockies and exploring rail lines both in use and abandon. I have seen poles stuck in the ground from “textbook perfect” to sticking horizontally out of nearly vertical cuts made for the RR. Poles in awkward looking spots with lots of other poles for support and H shape with one pole on either side of the track and the wires running parallel to the tracks over top until it was convenient to put them back beside the rail line. On thing is for sure they use as many poles as they need and don’t worry about how straight things are just as long as they are secure.
I guess what I am saying is mix things up a bit and it might look more real for some strange reason. I wonder if anyone on the forum has any weird phone pole photo’s. (Mark are you listening) [:)]
