That’s a little tender and it looks nowhere that big on the tracks! Wow.
Wonder after she is restored she will run to Cass for the railfan weekends?
John Smith, head of the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad was quoted in a newspaper article as saying the engine would run from Cass to Durbin once the washouts were repaired. The 15-mile line suffered severe washouts in the flood of 1985 and only the upper 5 miles have been rebuilt thus far. This mildly-graded line follows the scenic Greenbriar river. The regular Cass scenic line up the mountain is too steep for a rod engine–that’s why they use Shays & a Heisler.
