tender whistle types

Is anyone familiar with different types of whistle assemblies used in late prewar & early postwar tenders? I recently bought a #265 with a waffle top tender, but someone took the whistle out of it and I want to find a replacement.

Most of the postwar whistles I’ve seen have plastic echo chambers and all look basically the same (except for variations in the color of the plastic).

Do prewar tenders all use the same whistle, or are there different types for different tender styles?

Thanks,
Doug

There are several variations, involving vertical and horizontal mounting, relay mounted on the whistle and separately, and plastic and zinc whistle chambers. You can find detailed information on the Olsen’s web site, when it is working.

I took a look at the tender parts on OTTP but most of what they had was impellers. Is that what you were looking at; just for the list of tenders those impellers went with, or is there more that I didn’t find?

Thanks again,
Doug

Look at “Whistle”, “125 Whistle Complete”, and “175 Whistle Complete” on
