Patriot Rail buys Middle Tennessee freight line for $10 million

The Tennessee Southern Railroad, which moves freight between Columbia and Pulaski, Tenn., and Florence, Ala., has been sold for about $10 million to Boca Raton, Fla.-based Patriot Rail.

Tennessee Southern is the last of seven railroads to be sold by operators Dennis Prince and Ted Lipman of Pulaski, Tenn., and insurance broker Don Denbo of Nashville. The sellers were advised by 2nd Generation Capital of Nashville.

Patriot Rail is owned by Gary Marino, former chairman of RailAmerica.
