The TCRM train trip from Nashville,TN, to Monterey is one of the ultimate excursion train trips you will ever take. Streamliner equipment from the 1950’s, is used with 4 engines, an E8 , 2 b units and a gp7 .There is a buffet car with
food, soft drinks and snacks for sale. At Lebanon, the train goes by the Tennessee Central Railway board & batten depot, and in the rear is the NC&St L brick depot built in 1916. The train goes by a park-like setting at Watertown. This is where TCRM passengers detrain to explore the town when Watertown is the destination. Later the train goes by Baxter where the depot has just recently been rebuilt, then on to Cookeville where the depot, built in 1909, has been completely restored with a pagoda style roof line and railroad equipment on the outside. Next station, Monterey, where the depot has been rebuilt as a museum. Civic clubs, downtown businesses and the town folk await the arrival of the train with food and crafts for sale. The scenery from west of Lebanon to Monterey is simply outstanding, rolling hill country, farms, Caney Fork River and mountains in full autumn color. When the day is done you have ridden 216 miles.
Have already booked this trip, and eagerly waiting for Oct. 12th.
