Terraforming.....Complete

I have passed a big step, the terraforming stage is completed.

The next stage is to pull up the mountain, and then pull up the track that is just laying there, and glue down the roadbed.

Then i will paint it and lay the track.

progress is better than i hoped.

I know lots of you are going to cringe when you see that I am using the white bead board foam instead of the pink or blue stuff. I have had no problems using this so far.
The buildings are there just to get a scope of the place, there are a few foam blocks to represent houses and one square is vacant, I need some houses bad.

Those who saw my ballast test and are looking for the results of larger scale application of the process…i am almost there. now that cycling is slowing down, i am getting a bit more time to work on the layout. I hope to have the roadbed down tomorrow afternoon if all things go well. the “yard” (even though its hardly a yard") will get the first chance of being “ballasted”

it was really nice to get that mountain out of the way. yes, those rock faces, are real rocks glued into place. no, it didnt make it too heavy.

Kevin

Yep… I’m cringing… Not at the white bead foam but the mess it must have made cutting it… Looks like you are on to a decent start… Question, that track you show on a grade in your Sept 7 photo… Does it go anywhere or is it just there for looks??

I like it… [:)]

Same question.

The track that has the grade…well, it just goes around to the back side of the mountain. it only climbs 2" and then flattens out. thats where my logging camp will be.

at the bottom will be a small saw mill much like the one that was in the model railroad magazine.

that logging line will be small, but thats ok, heck the whole layout is small.

the bead board sure does make a mess, but it cleans up easy.

this whole layout is really for the kids and my wife and I. The last part to this whole table will be a pull out shelf just under the table, and it will have a 1/32 slot car layout on it. the kids will never want to leave the basement when its all done.

Kevin

Im asking the same as well???, as for the Beadfoam, I often use it, you should see the two cats going ballistic trying to catch the beads when Im chopping.
It look great.
regards

This layout is starting out great, you have put some throught in it.

as long as the mess is in ondrek’s basement and not mine it doesn’t bother me at all [:)]

this is a cool hobby , you can use whatever you have available and do whatever you want and as long as it makes you happy . the layout is looking great , keep it up !

thanks for the positive comments.

Well, today didnt work out the way i had hoped, and i got absolutley no roadbed laid. figures.

Kevin

So do we have another Star Trek fan here? (the word “terraforming”)

Nope, not a star trek fan…just used a nerdy word…was actually thinking of that old PC game that i just cant remember the name of.

oh well.
