Tesoro to upgrade tank car fleet
I wonder if they will be built on existing trucks? I often see “bidders” raise prices on upgrading because they want to sell whole new cars… Lots of leftovers comming, either way…
Missing from the report is what the size of their own fleet is, especially how many are of the older design and actually require the upgrade. If the percentage is small this may be more of a PR exercise, although there is nothing wrong with that too.
Well, I am sure they would face bigger opposition in Washington State if they were using those “unsafe” inferior cars.

Good to see some corporations “get it”. Too many think the Gulf oil spill was business as usual. BNSF moves unit crude oil trains less than 100’ from my living room. They have restricted speeds in urban areas. A potential disaster may be had to quantify on today’s books, but the day after is too late to rethink safety.
