Sounds like a smart business plan

great news, im a texan and a train lover. having ridden the tsr id like to see it around for a while.
I’m greatful I was able to attend both days of the 2012 Railfest, May 5-6. This was my first ever visit to the Texas State RR, and I was very impressed. First-class depots in Rusk and Palestine, excellent rolling stock and locos, super personnel aboard and on the ground. Everybody had a smile on their face, and they couldn’t have been more helpful. A family-friendly atmosphere. I surely hope the new owners don’t lose this environment as they take over and supplement the tourist trains with freight on the new UP interchange. Maybe they’ll even find a way to get loco 610 going again once they have the new interchange trackage heavy-duty enough to withstand 610’s heft.
Adding freight is a great idea!
It is a crying shame that the State of Texas Railroad has to be farmed out to an outside operator because the politicians in Austin turned their collective backs on the TPWD and the Texas State Railroad.
