I find Bangkok is a good place to stop over when flying from Australia to Europe, and it breaks up the long journey.
Are any of the old Orange double ended GE locomotives still in service there? These looked a bit like the White pass and Yukon locomotives.

Thank you very much for your comment! I believe you are talking about GE, which some Thai fans call it GEK, imported in 1964. If this is correct, the answer is yes! I have some pictures of the first ever number (4001) of the lot of fifty in total taken when I visited home two years ago. The appearance of the loco was very good with new paint of both outside and in the engine room. I regret that I did not take a photo of the engine. I wrote to GE two years ago to ask if there was still some detail about this particular model. I found a person over there very informative and gave me some detail which he told me really difficult to obtain. I lost it some time after that[xx(]. I will find a chance to scan all those pictures and will post them here or some other places. I am really glad to know that someone knows railroad in my country!!

PS The third picture from the top (also the eight which is pulling the Eastern & Oriental Express Train from Singapore) is the 1964 GE’s grandson! This model was imported 31 years later from GE plant somewhere in America (I guess, if you do know where that place, do not forget to let me know please). The power was greatly improved from 2X600 hp of the grandpa to 2500 hp of the grandson.[:D]
