Back in the late '70s, there was an article on a real facility that made concrete products. It wasn’t huge, and the author, as I recall, said it wasn’t served by rail, although it could conceivably have been. I think they made cinder or concrete blocks there. Drawings and photos were presented
There was a building that housed a mixing machine, with bins above it that held cement, sand, and other aggrigates. And I think there was a separate warehouse, and some other small buildings.
This would have been in Model Railroader sometime between late 1977 and late 1979 if memory serves. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Dan
About the only thing, I can suggest to you, mainly, for your info,is a little vague. The upper right corner, of this page, right above the magazine pic, where it says, Subscribe, click on ‘‘Resourse’s’’ A list will pop up, click on Magazine Index and go to the year you want to look, click on each year, month, mag and it will give you a,contents, of the Mag. I just checked, all of 1979 and had no luck!.
Thank you, guys! I found it! I mean, you found the article. Then I had to go find MY COPY of that mag. It somehow got put in the 2006s. I decided to completely reorganize all my mags that I have collected over the years, off and on. They’d gotten disorganized. I’d already gave up on finding this one, Figured I’ll order one, but went ahead and kept organizing. This copy was in the last stack to go through.
To me that Dec '77 issue was easily one of my top 5 all time favorite issues. I discovered in it a big bonus! Drawings and how-to for a turntable that I’m about ready to start building.
The ad’s are great too. Do you remember Athearn locomotives for $8.99 and sets of 5 freightcars for $6.50? (HFM)
