Well I took all your advice, and finally picked out a good digital camera, a Canon A610.
Bear with me as thes are the very first photos I’ve taken!

Hmmm…I must’ve forgotten something…
I better go back to Tom’s tutorial. I’m using an iMac G5 with OS-X, so some of the commands are different…
Jon [8D]
Okay, I missed the “img” command…now how do I make them bigger???
Jon [8D]
I don’t get a “Properties” window at all. There must be a way to adjust the size in OS-X! Any fellow users out there?
Jon [8D]
Jon–
If you are using iPhoto to transfer to Shutterfly (why not) you will see a box (wtihin iPhoto) for size, go ahead and make it 500 wide and then upload it to SF. Everything following will be cake, no problemo.
Jon
PS–if it still doesn’t work (and it should) let me know.
Ah! I used the Canon software that came with the camera instead of iPhoto. Maybe I should go back and redo?
Jon [8D]
Jon, you are posting what is know as the thumb nail print. When in shutterfly, click on that thumb nail print and it will enlarge. When you have the larger pic, then get the properties and post the URL address.
tom
Like TOM said click on the properties high lite and put the img before and the /img after in .

Okay, let’s try this again!
Here’s a 1930-era cabin cruiser circling around the harbor awaiting the bridge-tenders beck & call…he must be smuggling hooch! No running lights!
THANKS GUYS! On a Mac you don’t get a “Properties” window at all, so the image has to be sized when downloading into Shutterfly from iPhoto. As I used the Canon software that came with the camera the first time around, it wasn’t even an option then.

Jon,
GREAT photos. I’m on a mac. On my new mac you can right click to get properties but on my older mac without right click, you held down the control key and click; but I see you mastered it.
Wonderful imagery, esp the 2 dark shots
Those are some nice pictures & a mighty nice layout you have , too ! Wonder where you got a cabin cruiser that scale ? Thanks for sharing !!
For Mac users ONLY
to find “properties” and “URL” via Mac on Shutterfly. Just hold “control” and click on the image, then choose “open in new window” and copy the URL that shows up.
Thanks Dave for reminding us of Mac’s
Great Shots Jon, hope to see you on Sunday Photo Fun

Fantastic photos, Jon! Thanks for sharing them with us! I’ve always been a big fan of night photos of trains!
Thanks for the comments guys. The cabin cruiser is actually an HO kit I picked up at the Big E show in Springfield, MA a couple of weeks ago. It has a good 1925-1940 look to it, and when it’s near the #313, it looks to be in-scale:

10-4 on that, Jon, I’ve used scale tricks like that before with buildings in the distance. The fancy name for it I think is “forced perspective.”
Nice pictures Jon.
Most of the Mac OS X software will recognize a three (or more) button mouse. A lot of stuff will behave pretty much the way it would on windows if you right click. The Get Info/Properties can also be accessed by Command (Apple key) i.
Jon,
Great photos! We need one of you on the air. Autographed of course. [:D]
