I assume you are talking about subway tracks or similar tracks, Lion. I’ve been all over Manhattan and I have never come across an actual grade crossing.

Well, most of it is underground, Lion. I don’t know if you do elevated tracks too but New York still has a few el’s in service that go back to the days when the trains were pulled by steam locomotives.
If New York never got rid of its horse cars it would not now have to worry about putting electric motors out of the way of rising waters during a hurricane. I think going back to horsecars would be a good idea.
