This has probably been asked a lot, but I don’t know of any times while I’ve been a member. So here it goes, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCOMOTIVE? But to make it more interesting, let’s split it into categories. STEAM, DIESEL, ELECTRIC, and TURBINE. I’ll start off with mine;
STEAM- Very hard decision here, but probably the Pennsy 6-4-4-6 S1
DIESEL- Most likely the DD40AX. The Centipede comes in at a close second.
ELECTRIC- Pennsy L-5
TURBINE- Easily #80 , Union Pacific’s Coal Turbine

You’re right – this has been asked over and over on this forum –
Steam: Royal Hudson 4-6-4’s
Steam: either a CB&Q O-5a Northern with disc drivers, or a CB&Q M-4a 2-10-4 Colorado.
Diesel: Any E or F unit, any road! It always helps if it’s a CB&Q engine, though! [:p]
Electric: Milwaukee Road “Little Joes’”
My all time favorite is diesel electric. I like all of the GP and SD low noses.
