The best book(s) on DCC?

Hi,

The title says it all. I’m a newbie and need to learn the ropes.

Thanks

Welcome Ed.

You can save yourself a few bucks by using what is available online for free. There are a multitude of sites that offer more then what is printed on paper. Wiring for DCC is one link that you can go blind reading it. Marcus DCC for dummies is another. Every DCC component manufacture maintains web sites with download able manuals for their products. This forum and hundreds of other forums are great resources for information. Then there are the vendors that sell and service DCC products that have a wealth of information for everyone.

Happy reading.

Ed,

Here’s a couple of other handy resources to add to Pete’s list:

  • DCC for Beginners - From Tony’s Train Exchange web site, you can either read it online or download it onto your computer as a .pdf file. Cost: FREE!
  • DCC Made Easy (Lionel Strang/Kalmabach Publishing) - Lionel has a real knack for explaining things in very understandable terms. But there’s also some meat to challenge you, too. It’s out of print, I believe, but you can probably still find a copy at your local hobby shop (LHS) or an online store like Amazon.com. Cost: $14.95 (MSRP)

Hope that helps…

Tom

Thanks guys. It’s a crappy day outside so it looks like I’ll be reading.
