I have to build a bridge between the end of my viaduct and the upper level of the pumhouse tunnel. The distance is almost exactly 1.5 m say 5 '.
I saw a beautiful bridge on TV and tracked it down it turned out to be “The Goodwill Bridge” over the Brisbane River in the City of Brisbane.
It is only a pedestrian bridge but it has a beautiful curved arch and we loved it. We aimed to run our tarcks over it and as well about a third the way along another track would curve away in a 1.1 m radius curve.
We have quite a bit of 9mm marine ply in stock so we very quickly got a bridge made to fit the situation 1.5 m long 175 mm wide and the arches curved up about 360 mm. We got the arches on roughly and put it in place roughly, tried some large locos and it was absolutely hopeless. Wouldnt fit, overhangs hit the sides and any problem you can imagine it has it.
We have removed the curved arches and have virtually gone back to the drawing board.
