Perhaps the reason why “Caterpillar” does not appear on the locomotive is that the name is associated with great traction but at a rather slow speed.

That’s an interesting looking paint scheme, I can’t wait to see better photographs of this locomotive!

It’s too bad the cat logo would have loomed nice on the side along with Electomotive. And I think it would have better conveyed the message.

I am really surprises the CAT emblem in the triangle form is not on the engine, as it is in all their advertising. Like the scheme-it is very sharp.

Wowzers! This will look like those promotional model trains (Coca Cola train sets, etc.) that are sold every Christmas except in 1:1 scale.

It is nice to see some companies take pride in thier work and the nice touch of moving the CAT equipment train with a special locomotive.

as a former caterpillar employee and a railroad fan, this is a great tribute to an outstanding American corporation

Any clue on the routing from Blomington?

Routing from Bloomington is via Decatur (where more Cat loads are added), Granite City, and then-ex-SOU trackage to Louisville, Danville, Ky and the Rat Hole to Atlanta where a block is set out to become Train 980 for Norfolk/Portsmouth. The rest of the train goes to Savannah.

nice bumble bee paint job

Is this the last Canadian built EMD locomotive? Maybe Cat feels a wee bit guilty so they didn’t put their name on it. Anyway it is good to see EMD locomotives built in the good old USA again.

I agree with Dan…maybe CAT feels a wee bit guilty, and they should. They knew what they were going to do with the London operations from the day they bought it! As a Canadain rail fan it was a sad day when the operations shut down.
