The Clinch Valley RR cab ride
VERY detailed and amazing layout! How many years did it take you to put together?
Bob, that was quite enjoyable; overall a nice layout. Was that accomplished with a wireless camera or???
Not the Clinch Valley RR. This is a prototype based Clinchfield layout. Thanks for posting it.
After seeing the Walk Around Video I knew thge View from the Cab would be awesome
I was not disappointed
what is a defect detector? I’ve never heard of it, but the video was very enjoyable.
Wow, what a huge layout. Must have taken years to biuld.
Samuel, defect detectors are located along the main line usually every 10 to 12 miles and they check for defects. Anything that might cause the train to stop or have an incident. They also count axles and check train length in feet. Then announce it in a computer voice. Ex. “CSX Equipment Defect detector, Mile Post 651 point 1. No defects. length of train 5,280. Total axles 278. end of transmission.”
Very Nice, the cab view really shows the elevation differences around the layout. the layout must be huge.
I used a keychain DVR camera that shot in 480p for this video. I have since upgraded to a 720p HD camera. They are the 808 #16 cameras available on Ebay. Keep in mind that this layout is not the same layout as the Clinch Valley layout. My layout is prototype based in a 44 x 32 basement with triple levels and 400 feet of mainline.
The layout is in its 7th year now and is about 2/3rds completed to detailed scenery. I have had two major track plan revisions with one era change in 2008 so what you see is about 3 years of progress. Thanks for the comments. Again I wish they would change the title of the video to represent my layout which is prototype based Clinchfield layout and not the Clinch Valley which is another different great layout.
Very impressive (and huge!) layout. When more of the scenery is in, it will be AWESOME! Reminded me of a fantrip I rode there back in the '70’s—complete with multiple tunnels and coal trains waiting in most of the sidings. (I don’t remember the CRR using Caboose turnout throws however!!) Hope you’ll share more videos with us as you progress further. Great job!
Thanks for the ride. Enjoyed the tour!
Greatest ride I ever took!
the train ride was awesome ! GREAT VIDIO.
