THANK YOU GREAT PEOPLE AT THE COFFEE SHOP FOR THE WELCOME. Now that i understand the Model railroading politics,I’ll be here everyday and again thanks.MAXWELLHOUSE ANYONE?
Sorry noah, you snooze, you loose[:D] Big_Girl got in first with her cookie offer, and we don’t do win/loose on the same team at the same time[:O]
Glad to say the birthday thing went off very well. First time in 42 years, he tells me. I thought it was more. It turns out it was my brother’s wedding day, which is also his birthday. (Noah, store this away for future thought, get married on your birthday, and you won’t forget the anniversary[(-D]) But, I’m sure that before that we hadn’t had a birthday celebration for some years. Any way, enough of this.
Willy:
No thanks, make mine Tim Horton’s[:P]
Noah! Way to go!!![bow]
Mikey
Missed tonight’s episode on Vision TV as we forgot to set the VCR to record, and we were still in birthday mode.[V] It strikes me it’s getting sillier and sillier, but in a brilliant way.
I think it’s time to feed John, his powers are wearing off. They were working just fine up until the bottom of the 12th, when the damn Yankees came from behind to win. It’s a good thing junior was at his mother’s tonight. I don’t think I could have handled the screaming.
Speaking of screaming,## Basil !!!And from one of my favorite episodes: “is not rat, is hampster”.[swg]
Well did you invite Adrian and Gurl [;)] over to watch it too. Since Adrian is from Harrisburg he might like to see it. You know, popcorn doesn’t cost very much and they both could bring some coke. That would make for a good evening–trains vid and friendship complete with corn and cokes. [:D]
Noah [:)]
Congrats on the Photo Of The Day.
Big Boy [:D]
There was something I was going to say to you, but guess who forgot what it was. [B)]
Wedge (CSX Railfan 312) a guy on aol aim showed me one of the pics he has taken. It is a NS ex CR loco painted for Maersk Sealand and numbered 3329. There is currently an effort to save this loco and I am going to make a post in the trains.magazine forum about it. He sent it to Bergie and hopefully it will be Photo of the Day soon too.
Good Mornin’ Everybody,
It’s a foggy morning in the mountains this morning. It’s a lot warmer today than it was yesterday but it will take a while for the pea soup to burn off. I’ve got to get out there later and cut the grass and blow leaves. Funny thing about that; If you put out grass seed and water it, it grows, then you get to cut it. This time of the year, the leaves need to be dealt with pretty much every week. I think that has something to do with living in the forest. Oh well, it’s going to be a good day for it.
I took one step forward and two steps back on the railroad yesterday. I got the power on-off switch for the Graham County staging track wired in, then noticed that the inside rail on the curve leading into it had popped loose from the ties and was WAY out of guage. I remove every 5th tie and increase the tie spacing on a lot of my sidings, spurs and so on. I got it back into guage with several Kadee guage tools and super glued the rail back into place. If it holds, no problem. If not I’ll have to replace it. Since this is the section that goes through the wall, it should be great fun.
Big Boy 4005, your last post made me laugh so hard it almost brought tears to my eyes. I’d forgotten about that one- “Is not rat- is hampster”. Louise and Shawna have never seen any of them. I think I need to find them on VHS or DVD. They are so good.
Fec153, seems like I remember some Dowlings at Jax Beach when I was in high school. There was a Pete Dowling who was a year or so ahead of me ( I graduated in '63). Boy that’s been a long time ago. Another storm mid-month, huh. Thst’s just what everybody needs. I saw on CNN yesterday that the weather folks are predicting a very cold and wet winter for the southeast this year. That could mean lots of snow. The last few winters have been a good bit warmer than usual so we’re due for one.
Noah, congratulations on the Photo of the Day! That’s outstanding. I can sympathize with you on the leaves. In a more perfect w
Thanks Tom, I love to make people laugh. That is definately one of those things where you have to have seen it to understand the joke. I can just hear Manuel’s voice. “I name the hampster Basil after Mr Fawlty.” The health inspector, the rat poison on the veal, the cat and it’s hairball, and finally the tin of biscuits. John Cleese was the funniest one of the Monty Python lot, though they ware all good in their own special ways.
Just thinking…I’m sure going to miss Rodeny Dangerfield. What a caricature of a comedian he was! Rolling those big eyes, and coming back with lightning fast wit made so many of us laugh hysterically. [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][swg]
It was neat how he accidentally discovered his strategy for success by “Ripping and Ragging” on himself with the “I get no respect” tirades! [4:-)][tup][:o)][X-)][D)][(-D]
One of my favorite movies is where he plays an executive that goes back to college and has to deal with his son’s feelings and attitude of having his “rich, popular and influential” dad on campus. IMHO, Rodney’s finest performance.
Good day all -
Before I order, let us all bow our heads in a moment of silence IMO Rodney Dangerfield… <pause / bow>
I’ll take a 20oz cup o’ Maxwell House - 5 cream, 4 sugar, partially frozen w/ a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream.
Egmurphy / Big_Boy: Let’s Go Red Sox!!! 2-0 ALDS lead over the Angels now…tomorrow will be a 3-0 lead! WOOHOO!
Der5997: As for my HMO covering my coffee likings…not that I’m aware of, but my wife and I do make it on the STRONG side! Also, Brett is not doing too good right now. If he plays Monday night, hope he doesn’t force himself into a early retirement. I too, am a GBP fan…have been since '97 when one of my highschool classmates (Dorsey Levens) started playing for them. Now, Dorsey plays for the team I have for my Defensive team for my fantasy league team…Philly!
Ferg: Canadian Navy - Yes? I’m a active duty member in the New York Air National Guard.
Sorry NO!! I say NO politely as I’m actually Canadian Coast Guard. It’s a rivalry thing ya know. Actually in light of the latest disaster my heart goes out to the submariners who are presently stranded out in the Atlantic. I’m presently on leave and will be going back to work in the end of November. I’m presently playing catchup with the Honey Dew list and garden chores and being Mr. Mom. BTW the Honey dew list is self imposed as I’m a sucker for punishment.
BTW this is a Blue Jay Home So anybody but the Yankees or Atlanta (The list gets longer every year) It’s my wife’s passion not mine. And Paul Molitor is a turncoat!
Paul Molitor is a turncoat??? How so Fergie?? He only played half his career with the Brewers. He’s from St Paul and played with the Twins when he got his 3000th hit, but he snubbed them too. At least you aren’t an Expo’s fan, they’re gone.[swg]
John, Realized I forgot to mention how I liked those mock ups of your yesterday, they’re fabulous. And I think I must have figured out a way to mix up your jinkes, but I did it for the wrong team! I have removed mine untill Monday, when it will go back into affect for the GBP’s, and they will win this time!
JP, You went to school with Dorsey Levens! Must be neat now watching the highlights and going, “I know that guy.”
Elliot, I still always feel like Pauly is truely at home when He’s in Milwaukee. He played all those years for them, and boy was he great, from what I’ve seen on TV. To bad I could have never have seen him play.
Well, got tomarrow off, so no homework tonight. Hope to get in a little modeling tommarow if I can help it. We’ll see. Well, better get going now.
Well it’s too bad Rodney Dangerfield died, quite a few old Hollywood stars have passed away this year.
Ed:
I ALMOST got a chance to watch the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly but I missed it.[banghead] I’ll probably end up just getting the movie on tape or DVD so I can watch the thing without all those stupid commercials.
Noah:
Good to hear you got picture of the day, wish I had a better behaving computer plus a digital camera or a better film camera and a scanner, it’d give me a reason to take pictures…
As of the moment I’ve given up on getting a layout started, because I have neither the room or money to have one. Kind of makes me mad because I have nothing else to do in my free time, and I have nothing to show off my mrring stuff on, but it might be a good thing not to build a layout at the moment because in a little over a year I’ll have a car and I’ll have to pay for all of the stuff that goes with that. Still, I’d like to build a module; it’s too bad we don’t have enough room in our shed, my dad would like to have a shed that’s insulated and has a car jack in it, plus a woodworking shop, and if you were going to have all that, might as well have a model railroad too! Hopefully before I’m 20 I’ll get ot have a layout of some kind…[sigh]
GB&U though a classic would be a good acronym for a RR. Any ideas?
Don’t worry CJ this is about the second or third showing on Spike so chances are you’ll be able to see it again soon enough.
Elliot: the dig on Molitor was just a swipe at you buddy! I saw him play in Toronto on several occassions, the last in Twins Colours. He put the Jays to shame with four runs.
Thanks, Tom, it was a surprise in that before he came on this holiday, he didn’t know our plans, and once here, he didn’t know the ghastly details[:O] So, when they returned yesterday afternoon from their tour, the balloons on the mail box were indeed a surprise! ( and all the others, and the party hats, steamers, cake, sparklers, presents, etc. etc.) A really nice touch were the matching “Birthday Girl” and Birthday Boy" buttons that our neighbour Pat (she shares the same birthday, [and party this year [8D]]) made for the two of them. Since my bro is a bit on the Old School and stuffed shirt side, this was tremendous fun. Once in the spirit of the thing he relaxed and had a good time too[:D]
Willy:
Any chance we get to see what you get done? What’s the project?
Noah:
Thanks re the mocks. They are fun to do, especially the platforms on curves. However, looking at a couple as I sit here, I can see that since they are on grades, the station buildings are sloping! The platforms have to follow the grade, but I’d better jack up the downgrade ends before too much coffee or soup (sorry Paul) gets spilled[;)]
Now, as to sports and jinxes. You are dealing with strange and powerful forces here[}:)] Neither my wife or I have any actual interest, except at the most superficial level, in any sport [:0] [xx(] [:p] [X-)] [(-D] Consequently, the success of any team on an ongoi
Glad to know you and Mrs. Der are still on the job[;)]
After the other night with the Yankees (the Twins had that thing won a half dozen times grrrrr[banghead] [soapbox] Kubel thy name is mud[:(!][:(!][xx(]) I was afraid you were vegatarians and I offended you with the prime rib offer[:p][;)]
Ferg- I saw you on at the same time as me and wanted the spot right after Der so I threw in that quickie post to save my spot. [:P] I really had to laugh when I saw your post here.[:D]
