Hey Noah-
That school by your local NMRA sounds great. Wish I’d have found that when i was younger! And definitely jump at the chance to do some layout work with your dad. You’ll be glad you did! My dad and I worked together on some of my high school (and earlier!) layouts and we both treasure the memories - hopefully we’ll be able to work together on one again soon!

Got the RSD15, looks good. Now for those of you who say Frisco never had an RSD15, you are correct. BUT MY Frisco will have RSD15s. [;)]
Got the other drawing too. The LeggWood is an interesting loco. Double ended locos were neve the norm in American. I know some parts of the world had / have them but they just didn’t catch on here. Not sure how many railroads actually had doubled ended locos other than the Little Joes. I am not real familiar with the east coast electrics, some of them might be, but don’t quote me on that one.
As for modeling the Frisco in an " L " shape, well Springfield, Missouri became the center of the Frisco as the diesel shops, repair shops, and main headquarters were all in Springfield. St. Louis at one point had the headquarters and Frisco Hospital but as far as I know the hospital was closed or sold and the headquarters was moved to Springfield. I read an article once that stated that every road diesel on the Frisco made it to Springfield in any given 24 hour period. That may or may not be true, Frisco was an " X " railroad with various other lines crossing the legs of the X in places. There were places like St. Louis and Memphis where the tracks did not go through Springfield. Frisco did not have a direct route from St. Louis to Kansas City either, all Kansas City traffic on the Frisco went through Springfield, and vice versa. Yes, that was definately a long way around but that is how it worked.
Frisco had a long and interesting history but wound up in bankruptcy several time
Morning/afternoon all.
Ed, I’ll take a BIG glass of fresh OJ.
Guy’s soak up the warmth all you can, the weatherman here in my area says later this week it could be in the teens here at my place, and I live in East Texas. It seems you northerner’s just can’t keep the gate closed, can ya. You don’t see us southerner’s opening our gate, and letting our hot weather up your ways, do ya, [#dots] now that I think about it, we do. Ok, who left the gates open?[?] Just kidding guys.
gonna go, see you all later
Robert
DerJohn - I discovered that I actually need to get one of those ‘right angle’ clamps before I attempt to build Carnegie St Mfg now. Paint will come sooner than the angle clamp!
JP
Here’s another q for all of the ‘professionals’ out there… Do all the Atlas and LL kist come w/ bases? Or is it just certain ones?
Since I ran into the problem of not having the ‘angle’ clamp so I can build Carnegie St Mfg, I started building the Lumber Co. kit that Atlas has. Since I live near a company called 84 Lumber, and they have a few buildings on their property that look almost like the Atlas Lumber Co. kit, and the local 84 Lumber store (back of store property borders CSX’s DeWitt Yard) gets shipments via CSX from time to time, I figured it would be a good bldg to have on my layout. I may even opt to getting a 2nd one so I can have a good sized lumber dealer. I wish someone would make a Home Depot store. That would take up some room as well, but they don’t get shipments via rail here.
Take care…
JP
Good afternoon people: Bob, I know what you mean about OJ shoving up the blood sugar. sorry Ed, but I’ll have to pass too[V]
BTW, Ed
QUOTE: You guys were a quiet lot last night. Everyone must have been in mourning for the Packers. I was surprised to see how few posts were made after my last one.
I was too tense waiting to see if I was going to incurr the wrath of Big_Girl should the GBPs have gone on. The thing I was counting on was that they had the least wins in regular season out of the division leaders (if that’s the right term - please don’t bother with the corrections, folks as IRCCL[(-D]) Seems I had picked that about right. [^]
Actually, what kept us downstairs at the TV was a Fawlty Towers marathon on BBC Canada. Our satellite TV provider is using January for a promo of new to you channels. Can’t say there’s anything we’ve seen yet that we would actually want to pay for.[(-D]
Tom: How long can pecans stay wet in a ditch without the quality being affected? Also, is there an outer shell before that red one - sort of like walnuts?
Speaking of walnuts, we once lived in an older home with a large walnut tree outside. The squirrels (remember the squirrels?[(-D]) used to get them into the roof space and play football with them up and down all night! (That’s what was the UC Manse in Conn, Ont.,TrolleyRob, if you are curious)
Perhaps time tomorrow for a trip to the LHS. My M-I-L has an appointment with the dentist. We can’t get her into the office in Sheet Harbour, as she doesn’t do stairs, and there is no ramp. Kris backed the van up the landscaping to the door last time, but there’s too much snow there now for that [:D] So this Dr. is in Dartmouth, and we will see how that goes.
Time for non-virtual tea. Thanks for the cuppa here, and the remians of the Christmas cake in that tin on the shelf over the counter was grand! [C=:-)]
TTFN
Saw we were near page two, just bumpin it up.
See y’all later,
Greg
Der John are you sure that the Christmas cake was this years vintage, you know how people tend to leave it lying around.[:D] Also I found a couple of undec palace cars at the one LHS I’m spoiled and have two in town so I’ve found some razer saw fodder but I’m always on the lookout for more. Speaking of temps. today it was 40F today and by the end of the week we may hit 60! seems we’ve stolen the souths wrm weather don’t worry though we are happy to trade for a couple of days. I may even sunbath in the front yard![:-^][swg][:D]I actually survived the inventory with most of my whitt’s intacked(sorry trolley joke) well I’m going to grab a banana muffin and see what else is out there catch you all later. Rob
Teffy, it’s next in line on my work bench, once I get this darn building out of the way. I haven’t had much time to work lately, but I hope to tonight, as I don’t have much homework.
Well, I don’t have much else, except a pile of cars to be test run on my track, a building to work on, and a little homework. I guess I better keep moving.
Noah
Good evening everyone, I finally got started on my train room, it felt good to get things going. Had to quit about 4pm, got Monday night bowling with the guys.
Ed, thanks for the OJ this afternoon, I love the Peachtrre Schnaps that you added to it, nice job !![;)]
Bob , talking about back doors…[:O][:O], I was checking the weather channel at noon time lunch, and it was -35F in Churchill, Canada!!! Mon Dieu, are we in for some cold weather by weekend and into next week !!!
Rob : I have a feeling that Der John is passing “Aunt Jennie’s” fruitcake around each Christmas, it tasted a little flat in the coffee shop don’t you think??
Do I hear the dinner bell? YES!!! Time to go gents, see ya later,
Hey, I got to looking around the Athearn Website, and I think I found the ARK Flag ship car.
http://www.athearn.com/Product/Zoom.aspx?ProdID=ATH92181
Just change the logo and road name, and Volia! You have the Ark Flag ship car! I’m also working on the three Cities, I think I found the R and the K. I know the A will be Appleton, but I’m, still working on the others.
Noah
***; yes it did but I’m spoiled as my mother-in-laws family recipe is to die for, just don’t drive anywhere for two or three days afterward[swg][:-^][:-^] I would leave some in the shop but I don’t think that they would let me accross the border with it.How soon till you get the benchwork up or is it a few trips to the depot away yet? Catch you later Rob

I feel sorry about you having to go back to work. POOR BABY I’m assuming that I’ll get a package from Loy’s today? Did you find the other decoder on your “trash dive”?remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY
Bob
Yeah RIGHT!! I’ve even goy homework everynight[V]
The Trash Dive proved pointless, even with latex gloves on I was not able to find the sucker. I am greatful that we put all the organics in a seperate bin!
I found the box the gear came in and noticed it had been, Oh how shall I say, searched at the border as there was yellow customs tape across the bottom. So as you said it could have popped out unoticed and landed on the floor. For all I know it might still be around here somewhere.[:(]
Not too worry Bob.
Anyway I’m trying to convince Lisa and Dad to pool resources for my Birthday gift. That BLI UP 4-8-2 is a sweet looker, so is the Athearn Challenger. Mmmmmm
Ed that waqs quite the haul of Oranges. What are you going to do with them all? Can you make wine from them? Do you have a recipe for Grande Marnier?
Tell us your secret recipes! Sorry for your Loco. As I said I’m hoping to have mine up and running before I go to sea. I what month I don’t know.
So as Noah would say “time to go study”
Later
Fergie

[:)] So Noah, do you have the Little Rock submarine to go with that? [(-D] I heard that Little Rock had not long ago had received one.

Evening, Coffee Clubbers![:)]
I’ll have a glass of the o-r-a-n-g-e j-u-i-c-e, please (Trying not to tip off Teffy) for now. Dinner will be later tonight, so I want to save my appetite and I’ll pass on the honey-glazed donuts (or are those quesedillas, Ed?). They sure look tempting.
It’s about like Christmas all over again at my place. Last night I was moving some MRR boxes around and saw one I thought I hadn’t looked inside. Turned out it had a reasonable Model Rectifier power supply, a bunch of detail stuff (window air units for my apartments over the) DPM Carol’s Corner Cafe, electric power heads, details for a plumbing supply place (various pipes, elbows, etc.), and some more sawmill detailing parts - maybe even a small backwoods sawmill. Plus two small Badger spray units (no air cans) - nifty!
Now, if I could find some interesting module plans… Anyone know of some non-dull module plans on the web? Teffy? Think I’m going to go check the Layout Design Primer pages for what I can find. If anyone knows of some ideas for HO module plans, let me know. I’m looking at 2’ X 4’, 2’ X 6’, 2’ X 8’, or corner modules to connect to them.
See you all later - enjoy the rest of those donuts! I left the coffeepot set up for the next batch and tossed the grounds out.

Good Evenin’ Everybody,
I believe I’ll have a big glass of orange juice, fresh squeezed, please. Ed, those are beautiful oranges, and fresh OJ is about as good as it gets.
Today was a really good day. NO work got done on the bathroom today. Our model railroad club has gotten new temporary lodgings. It’s a store front in Copper Hill Tn. The owner isn’t going to be using it until sometime late summer, so he said we were welcome to use it until then if we’d pay the electric bill . That should be about the time the depot in Mineral Bluff is done and we can move in there. The new place is large enough for us to set up our modules (Horribly Oversized and Normal) and have a place for everybody to run trains. So today a bunch of us went and got them out of storage and moved them in. We had enough people show up so we had plenty of hands for the work. It went well and we got it done. It made for a good day.
Bill Mathewson and I are going to a MR swap meet in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve already pulled out some stuff that I can live without. Tomorrow morning I’ll make another pass through to see if there’s anything else that needs to go.The other side of the coin is I wonder what I’ll find there that I must have. We’ll see. It’s going to be fun. The rest of the day tomorrow will be spent working on the bathroom. There’s more wallpaper to be peeled off.
Der, I’ve got one of those cutter things for the wallpaper. It’s got two cutters that revolve and rotate, and you use it to make circles on the wall . It penetrates the paper so the liquid can penetrate and loosen the adhesive. It does help, but not all that much. It’s just a pain of a job.
Fergie, good chili is wonderful stuff. Louise makes killer chili, too. And, as you pointed out, everybody gets to enjoy it more than once.
I’d better go for now.
Have a great evening, everybody,
Tom
Ed- seeing as you started the page, put some oranges in the fridge. CSX hauls the Tropicana special. Many, many reefers and 2 big locos highball.
I’ll have to get some vodka to go into the orange juice.[:D][:D].
Flip
well I was at it again tonight put a bit of the yard in and found the two DC walk around throttles and power supplies that I had squirreled away for when we bought a house.[:D]It looks like that by march I may have the mainline in then I can worry about the towns’n’industries.Since I’m a hopeless plasterer and the walthers street systems are so 'spensive[xx(][:O] I’m wondering what other options are out there as these are the only track in road building tecniques I’ve ever used, any ideas[?] Flip since it looks like I have started another page looks like I’ll be sqeezing the orannges Ed is sendinng up I’ll let you do the mixing though[swg] Talk to you all later. Rob
Evenin’ Y’all,
Page two again!!! y’all are slippin!!
Flip: you’re slipping too!!, Haven’t seen you start a new page in a couple of days!!
Ed: Hope you’re hungry, it’ll take a while to eat all those. Gonna make some orange juice?
Jhhtrainsplanes: Got you’re e-mail, I was in a hurry though, I’ll get back with you later.
[#welcome] to any new guys I’ve missed over the last day or two.
Turbo: I think you sent your cough to Oklahoma!! I seem to be getting a little tickle in the throat about now.
Been pulling my hair out over the Dash-8, I didn’t think Atlas’ bulbs were bright enough, so I came up with a bright idea and well, you know how those go[:D]. Anyway, I got all new bright white L.E.D.'s in there, and they don’t auto reverse anymore, the back one stays on, and the front ones stay off no matter which direction the loco is travelling. I’m just hoping I didn’t burn up something in the decoder.
Y’all tried Intermountain Wheelsets? Those make all the difference in the world on slow rolling cars!! I really didn’t think there was any hope for my Athearn rolling stock, but these things make them just roll just like a P2K.
Well, gotta get to bed so I can get to school tomorrow.
See y’all later,
Greg
Hi guys- just got back online here at the PD, had quite the ice storm last Wed -ice bad, bad bad ice- and most of the area was without power (I still am at home) until yesterday. Which by my reckoning was Sunday.
Lost some limbs, but most of my trees are Oaks, and, indeed, they are mighty. My Pines weathered it fine, but the Maples took a beating. We’ll start the clean-up as soon as power is restored. I spent the time at Amy’s and we pretended we were camping on the mountain, didn’t miss a meal, in fact, ate better due to people cleaning out their freezers!
All in all, not too bad, and I know about a million people in Asia that would trade places with us in a heartbeat!
Saw the NS track crews out Thur AM cutting trees off of their right of way, they were in a Hi Rail, so the roads posed no problem for them. Need to get me one of those.
I know if I go back thru the 9 pages added since Tues night, I will see numerous messages of concern and worry in regards to my where-abouts, so I won’t embarrass anyone by singling them out for thanks, I’ll just say thanks to all for your good thoughts…I just know they’re there. …please tell me they’re there…PLEASE!!!
Pennsyhoos- did you get hammered, or did it skirt off to the south of you. We were on the predicted edge, but ended up in the hardest hit area. It looks like it will be a few months before all of the trees and poles are cleaned up. As I recall,I was telling you to hunker down, looks like my prediction powers are just as good as ever. Oh well.
Anyway, glad to be back among the living, and we’ll be talking to ya.
