I hope all is well with everyone… if not I hope you get better very soon.
I think that if I get this job that it will be a blessing in diguise for me… something about having money again will help make my life just a little better. you know what they say… Money doesn’t solve any problems… well in my case it does solve some problems… like my MRRing and being able to feed myself instead of having to rely on my parents for everything. Also I could eventually have a girlfriend again. and maybe get a car that gets better than like 8 miles to the gallon (my dads truck is horrible on gas… the tank has to be filled every other day by my brother and that costs him $80 each time.
JP - good luck on your move and I hope you have no problems with your not so significant other while you are getting your things from your old place.
Siberianmo: Thanks for the compliment on the rock formations. Actually, the base is just WS plaster cloth over screen wire on foam forms, but I didn’t smooth out the plaster cloth, so as to keep a ‘rough’ finish when it dried. Then I did some Hydrocal rock castings and broke them up and kind of spot-glued them on using Sculptamold as a filler. Since the geology of the high (5000’ and over) Sierras is different from–say the Canadian Rockies–(igneous granite as opposed to sedimentary), the rocks tend to jut up, instead of being laid sideways in successive layers. I’ve still got to put some ‘weathering’ cracks in there–it looks a little too unbroken for me still. A lot of the talus lying around was made by putting random pieces of Hydrocal in a plastic bag and then smashing the stuff up with a hammer. Not only does it make neat talus, you can get rid of a lot of frustration, LOL!
I’m going to try your method of using ceiling tile (it really looks great on your layout, BTW), when I start scenicking the Hydraulic Diggings section on my layout–I think it will replicate sheer gravel/clay cliffs really well. Who says we don’t learn from each other, right?
BTW, the “German Shepherd” comment was made by a Franciscan Nun who is a Screaming Liberal Feminist buddy of mine (she was also my sponsor when I converted to Catholicism, which I suppose makes her my Godmother, also). She’s one of my VERY favorite people!
(Resisting the urge to comment on the word ‘off’ there…) [;)][}:)]
Yes, old Ben’s saying does apply (‘A penny saved…’) when changing residences, paying rent and utility deposits, and waiting for previous deposits to get to us. If you’re in a larger area, you may have all the major networks available over the air, if you watch that much TV (which I don’t). But after things get back on a more even keel you’ll probably be able to add cable back (at least a coverage that includes a - Red Sox sports channel), right? [;)] Hmmm… cable TV or MRRing? Now there’s a tough choice!
Best wishes for the move and settling into the new place, JP. And remember where the box with the plastic forks and the paper plates are, especially! [swg]
I’m still working on the wiring for the layout, gonna keep it neat this time and that will make it easier if it develops problems at a later date since the memory isn’t real great anymore. Have been trying to get the CFO to approve the purchase of a couple of Oakway SD60’s,but she says I have enough engines for now. will end up with them for my birthday in August maybe . Well, need to get off here having a heavy thunderstorm right now. Be careful everyone and have fun.
Afternoon all and Zoe before you turn the shift over to Chole could I have a Pepsi on JP
Ken
As stated the Puff comes from the look of a fire breathing dragon when the guns in the last 3 windows of the fuselage are being fired and you see a solid line of tracers going to the ground at night and they could only fire two guns at a time to keep from shaking the airplane apart. They were also called Spooky as the one that was next to our flight at DaNang was called and that isn’t a pune intended to Cat/Tom and his Spooky the cat.
John
Oh yeah top turret, belly turret, two waist guns, tail gun,and the last version with two guns in the nose. Fire power baby!!!
trolleyboy-Hope they decide soon because the waiting is always the hardest.
Jhh-Best to your co-worker and I hope she has a speedy recovery [angel][angel]
Hey guys.Well im back in town for a few days.
Last trip out I get called for a grain train.Im already to go when I have a couple of little problems,so I call the roundhouse out to take a look. When they tell me I have to take the power to the pit for service. They told me that one of my engines was low on oil…About 200 gallons low!
Well, I got a chance to paint those Details West crossing box kits yesterday, and I want to get them installed tonight, and get a few photos. I’ll post them tomorrow if they turn out right.
Well, not much homework that due tomorrow, but I do have some long term stuff that I should get a little done on. I’ll see you all tomorrow!
no, nobody gets in trouble for it.
its common for engines to leak at lot of oil.inside the long hood there is a big, long drain pan runs the whole length of the hood.there is always oil down there looks to be pretty deep.Im guessing anywhere from 2 to 6 inches
Good afternoon gents…yes…I’m in the CS early today…it was too how to work outside doing grunt-work today, as the temp hit 86 and registered 102 in the full sunlight. The Rh was only 24%, so one could dehydrate very fast doing heavy physical work. So we went to the Mall, and HD of course, and the Olive Garden for lunch.
We have a line of TS’s headed northeastward through upper New York state, so we may get some badly needed showers for the woodlands that are tinder dry.
BOB: I guess you really HAVE done the folliage loop Bob, and good to see that the girls got to go also. I agree with you re hospitality in Maritime Provinces, these people are just top notch.
KEN: You are very lucky, a neighbor of mine was cutting tree limbs over his head with a chain saw, an older model with no chain-break, and it kicked back catching him in the side of the neck at the shoulder. No one around of course, he drove himself to police station holding onto a bandage with one hand. He was lucky, he was fractions of an inch from his main artery.
CAPE JIM: I have heard of people becoming allergic to bee venom after repeated bites, but after 66 years of being stung by every kind of wasp or bee, I “think” I am OK, and you know what? The bee venom actually helps arthritis stiffness. However, this is not what I wish for.
TRAIN ROOM UPDATE: I’m in the jealousy stage, there is so much to do outside this time of year, that by the time I get back into the house at 5pm and shower and eat supper ( that is what they call “dinner” here in parts of New England ), I am too tired and sore to work on the benches that I need to get done…the next rainy day…
CA TOM: I love your rock formations, that shot is really nice!!!
Did anyone catch the TRAVEL CHANNEL show last night ?? Great Train Ex

If anyone would rather I did NOT forward any jokes to them, please advise in a civil way…
Congrats to the R.C.'s for a new POPPA. May he be granted wisdom to heal the rifts.
Three railroad construction workers, a Chinese man, an Italian, and a redneck, are all sitting down to lunch.
“Man,” the Chinese man says. “If I get another egg roll in my lunch, I’ll kill myself.”
“Man,” the Italian says. “If I get another slice of pizza in my lunch, I’ll kill myself.”
“Man,” the redneck says. “If I get another ham ‘n’ cheese sandwich in my lunch, I’ll kill myself.”
The next day, all three men get the same lunches, and they all three throw themselves in front of an oncoming train. At the funeral, everybody’s crying.
“This is all my fault!” says the Chinese man’s wife. “If only I hadn’t packed an egg roll that day.”
“This is all my fault!” says the Italian’s wife. “If only I hadn’t packed a slice of pizza that day.”
“Don’t look at me,” says the redneck’s wife. “He packed his own lunch.”
Hey Flip,Ill take any jokes you got going, indeed will be happy to trade-sadly,the only ones fit for the ears of fragrant Zoe & radiant Chloe are musician-type ones, mostly about drummers. R.E 1:480 Ive not visited the site in question, but I remember seeing an article in the Railway Modeller ( Brit equivalent of M.R.) back in the late 60s/early 70s about some deranged Australian genius who was building live steam in 1:480 {oddly enough it was a 4-8-0 hed built} If memory serves it was filled with water via en eye-dropper down the chimney, not sure what it used for fuel but I imagine Meths or some such a la Mamod traction engines,Chloe, same again please my dear and may I start up a slate for the boys in case ive inadvertantly started a page before cottoning on to house protocols, regards, nick
I found out Sunday that one of my riding friends has a malignant tumor in his bladder and about an hour ago another one of our riding friends called and said it has taken about 75% of it that they can tell. As of now it looks like they will take the whole bladder and possibly try to make him one out of an intestine. He is in ICU right now and I guess that means only family for visitors.
I guess the hardest question that I have ever asked even when my oldest daughter went through the cancer problem when she was 1-11/2 year old as well as those of you that have and are still going through the hard times of health problems is WHY??? It is probably the one that we will never have answered in our life time. I have other thoughts that I will not express here and I am sorry if I have said too much already,I guess you can say I was just thinking out loud.
I share your concerns and will keep your friend in my prayers.I learned just this week that my grandmother who is 80 years old has *** cancer. To my understanding a lump was removed, but they did a test of the area and discovered it to be cancerous. She is going to have 1/3 of her *** removed. A very serious operation for a woman who is 80 years old.
Tom { siberianmo } Your layouts look great !!! Really like the way you done the Polar Express. Ordered mine in February, still waiting for it to come in, they say now it could be September.
Everyone take care.
Duke and NS-no answers here, but if it helps to talk, you go for it. anyone has a problem with that, the door is over there…chin up,stay strong-your people need you-I`ve been there myself recently and it can be a deep dark place if you let it. good luck, regards, nick
