PNQ has recently bought 50 new GD44ACes from EMD to work the four track main between Brisbane and Townsville. GD44ACe stands for General Duty series 44 like the SD44ACeMs AC transmission and Enhanced. The drawings of the new GDs have not yet been released but will be soon.
Any websites showing photos? IMHO, some of the Australian EMD units look sharp. Would be neat if some U.S railroads would at least “trial run” a few.
