#7 due to leave Chicago today 3-23 and #8 due to arrive MSP Friday 24th show as “canceled”. Any reason for this and what happens to the passengers that want to take those trains?

You are correct. There was no 8 thru St. Paul this morning and no 7 thru last night. Guess Amtrak just gave up and went into the real estate business.
So what happened to those trains for them to be cancelled?

It snowed in Minot. In March. Evidently Amtrak considered this to be an anomaly, and canceled the train for one round trip. Really.
