That almost made me cry, My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
A bagel and some tea for me, it’s a very dreary rainy day here in Florida…Kind of reminds me of a Jimi Hendrix song
What a sad story. How could something likethis happen? Hope he wasn’t despondent and went there to commit suicide.

Dan, so very sorry to hear about your new railfanning friend. That is so sad. I’ll be remembering his family and friends, count on it!!
My knee seems so much better this afternoon. I’m walking a little bit straighter on it, and not having to take as many pain pills. That I’m very thankful for, as they put me to sleep, very fast! Don’t remember the dosage, right off hand, but it seems that about a half hour, 45 minutes after I take one, I’m falling asleep, and I don’t like that.
Brian, I’m with you, as far as figuring out why we needed to start a new thread so quickly. Maybe on of these days, it’ll be fully explained to all of us. And I sure do miss Mookie being in here. Hope she comes back very soon!!
I’m working very slowly on supper for tonight. Beef and noodles w/salad, home fries, green peas w/carrots, and a couple of Jell-O salads. Should be ready and on the warmer bar by about 5 p.m.
Since nobody’s touched the cake yet I’ll cut the birthday cake. My odometer rolled over to 28 today. Back later!

[bday] Dan!!! Hope the cake wasn’t too close to the smoke detector when you lit
the candles…you don’t want the “Sprinkler System” going off and giving you Soggy

With all of Bergie’s restructuring/editting, this place is beginning to look like UP/Jack Casement’s “H*ll On Wheels” during construction of the original Transcon. Are there steel wheels and trucks bolted to the floor where the cellar should be?[%-)]
Still in Eisenhower Tunnel in the wee hours of the morning up above 11,000 feet. Ed Berthoud, W.A.H. Loveland et. al. ought to be glad that they never got to build their narrow gauge Colorado Central up through here. Came out of the tunnel twice in the past few days to find it snowing and anything with a windward face coated in snow. Survey total stations (electronic transit w/ electronic distance meters) freeze up in a heartbeat and the optical lens facing the weather gets quickly covered in snow. It’s a battle to see every time you turn into the wind. Gives you a new appreciation for all those original railroad location engineers/surveyors and what they endured with their limited means.
Got asked again why we didn’t use GPS in the tunnels.[(-D] Duh!
Thinking about trading in Mountain Dew for some upgraded Jolt.

M C: I have always wondered about the original engineering and surveyor teams and how they functioned in such climate…And how many times would they have started up the wrong path only to find that route was not possible and had to back track and restart, etc…
Transportation: I suppose donkey’s and back packs on foot. Accommodations: At best, tents and dried beans or something of that order…Just don’t understand how they really got that job done across the great Rockies at the higher elevations.
sorry I’m late, [bday][bday][bday][bday][bday][bday] Dan!
Good Evening!
Just thought I’d drop by and say hello since it’s been awhile.
Happy Birthday, Dan, even if it is a few days late! [bday]
School is crazy right now since we’re working on term papers in English class. They need to be 4-6 pages typed, double-spaced, APA format, at least five sources. Really not too bad, but some people are making it sound much worse than it is. What will they do once they’re in college and have only a day or two to do a similar paper rather than the entire month that we get?
Anyway, I’m off to do some physics homework and then study for an Algebra 2 test.
Dan, [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday]!! Sorry I’m late, but hope your birthday was a very, very good one!! If there’s any left, I’ll take a slice of your birthday cake. Not very hungry tonight, so that’ll probably fill me up.
Hope everyone has a good evening, and Joe, you all take care, wherever it is you’re going!!
dam gone for 3 months. so did i miss anything and the new coffee shop.
