THE FOX MAY HAVE RUN OUT OF BULLETS; Justice Dept. not to thrilled with CP voting Trust

From article in the Wall Street Journal by Brent Kendall; It looks like CP will have a tough time getting approval from the STB. Mr. Kendalls article states: "Justice Department antitrust chief Bill Baer, appearing before a Senate antitrust subcommittee, said the voting trust was “an area of concern” because it could allow merging parties to accomplish much of the merger before a government antitrust review had taken place.

“That strikes me as letting the fox into the chicken coop subject to an investigation later of why there are so many feathers lying around,” Baer said. He said the department would be expressing its views to the transportation board.

Sure indicates that EHH, aka the fox, may have run out of options.

Or in other words, why did a perfectly healthy railroad run out of money after the raider bleed it dry.

Ackman is doing so well in his other ventures

Why do I get the impression Mr. Ackman’s another one of these corporate hot-shots who in the end proves to be too smart for his own good?

Ackman reminds me of Gorden Gekko in th movie Wall Street.

From Shogun, by James Clavell ( https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Shōgun ):

There are no ‘mitigating circumstances’ when it comes to rebellion against a sovereign lord.” - Yoshi Toranaga, in Ch. 11;

To this John Blackthorne responds: “Unless you win.

Well, looks like Ackman and Harrison aren’t going to win. What result now for them ?

"As far as Saddam Hussein being a great military strategist, he is neither a strategist, nor is he schooled in the operational arts, nor is he a tactician, nor is he a general, nor is he a soldier. Other than that, he’s a great military man, I want you to know that." - US General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, after the 1991 Gulf War.

Ackman and Harrison are of like kind. Neither one is capable of an evenly-matched contest.

Too bad Rob Krebs retired . . .

I’m sure there are some unseen tantrums: “What do you mean we can’t just run roughshod over these people?”
