There are many events of wide interest within the railfan community but no central listing place. What would be the possibility of “TRAINS” keeping a calendar of events open to the public across the country.
It’s too bad they didn’t remove the “General” from the museum and run it. As I understand it the locomotive was fully operable when it was put away in 1964. But then CSX won’t allow any antique railroad equipment on their line anyway, so I guess it’s a moot point. I DO have to give CSX credit for being part of the commemoration though.
There is NO “Congressional” appelation to the “Medal of Honor”. It is a military medal and the politicians have nothing to do with it.
It is refreshing to see CSX officials at an historical event involving one of the “fallen flag” railroads they now own. Could we be witness to a thaw in management’s thinking?
