The Great Northern in a Small Space

I keep going back to the Great Northern article, love it. It is the first one in a while that is really motivating, N scale, in room size about the size of front bedroom, office area, 11 x 10 ft. about my size area, but the layout is more than I can attempt, it’s a rainy day here in North Central IL - Am SP, ATSF & UP modeler, got a new house, still moving stuff from the garage into the house, office area for models, stereo vinyl collection and about 305 CDs of music from '67-now. Have a track plan with older RTS software, area was mostly flat where the trains ran, except ATSF Union Station to Pasadena, to Cajon pass. A feedlot, in San Gabriel Valley, a UP run to Long Beach/SP line, and a run of ATSF & SP LA to the pass & to Indio/Riverside. Finding models I bought but was blocked from building with no layout board to position them on, but size is about the same, no steam, turntable, no Union Station. Lived near each line at different times. East-West Valley, North-South at East, Ontario to Riverside, at West, UP/SP line to Long Beach shipping harbor. - 30 inches deep west, 36 deep North wall, 18 inches East wall to turn around loop & from harbor area to loop with lift out - modified plan for more space now. I want passenger ATSF trains, SP Sunset to Tucson, El Paso. Mountains on backdrop at North.

No question, but wanted to comment on the Article, liked it. Lived along all of the lines, '53-99 - RSD1/4, F3AB sets, E8AB sets, other locos since, the E7A is a style I had to have, lots of passenger locos, cars.

Ran my trains on a 48 x 30 in board with Kato track inner, outer loops. 2000-2008. Progress is now possible, was at block point with layout space before - old house had no room for even closets.

Have a good week, am happier now. Thanks, Tom
