The green, green grass of home

Here’s my yard yesterday (it rained 1st time in a month so it likely will be greener today)

It seems that the grass likes to grow where it is NOT wanted, along this overflow area for the lake

(I’m beginning to think grass is like hair. It is growing like crazy on my chest and back but is disappearing from my head)

There is a dought going on in my neck of the woods too. Maybe some rain from the hurricane will help.

Hey, our grass looks like that ALL the time. Please explain this “rain” stuff. We average 13.2 inches of precip per year but we’re running behind again this year.

It’s the rainy season now so I know what rain looks like!

David;

An application of round up will solve all of that! In your “waterway” did you put down any “pond liner”? When I built my pond, I ran the pond liner 12 inches outside the pond water area. Any weeds trying to grow in the rocks just do not survive, and are easily plucked.

Rain? Yea, we had some of that 'bout 4 years back.

Is North America in an all time big drought like Australia? if so this is mor worrying than i thought.

Most of Australia has been in drought for about 7 years and our weather patterns are far removed from USA .

They say that Australia is getting wetter but the rain is falling more to the north in equatorial places than in previous years!

Ian;

San Diego, is plop dead in the middle of an ocean front desert. We have to import our water. 6 to 9 inches of rainfall in a year, is a very wet and flooding year for us. We have a wind (we call it the “Santa Anna’s” from the south east, off the floor of the high desert, that just sucks the water out of my fish pond. (2,000 gallon pond and during a Santa Anna I can loose 100~150 gallons per day). Don’t know about the rest of the country, but the good lord designed this little corner of the world to be dry.

Tom I had no idea; i have been to San Diego and it is my favourite city in all of mainland USA and it looked pretty green to me when i was there. What a contrast to its twin city Tijuana.

So what you have is a continuing thing not like our 7 year drought?
ie its not going to get better in a hurry huh?

That Sant Anna sounds a bit like Sydney’s Southerly Buster and the Fremantle doctor only in reverse.
