Does anybody know what happened to the train from the “Hooterville Cannonball” on pettycoat junction and Green acres? The railroad was the C&FW, but I think that was a fake railroad for the show. Any help would be appreciated,

That loco and train are from the Sierra RailRoad and are kept in Jamestown Calf.

Well now, let add this up. [}:)] The show was on originally back in the 60s right? Either the late 60s or early 70s. So “those” young ladies then would have been somewhere in their 30s ok. Now fast forward 35 years and “those” young ladies are now drawing their social security. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. [}:)] [;)] [:p]

Not to change the subject away from actresses ---- but while Sierra No. 3 played the Cannonball for the live action shots (and I think was also the engine for The Wild Wild West TV show), there was a replica engine of an entirely different prototype that was used for studio shots, such as the crew climbing up or down from the cab etc. I seem to recall reading that a collector in CA owned this replica but cannot find my reference material. I think it was a replica of a 2-8-0, life size.

Later in the shows run, a 7/16" scale (I believe) model was used for both the Cannonball and the shorty combine, along with a 60’ section of track for filming the model in motion. Also the Shady Acre hotel and parts of Hooterville were made in model form. This was all a cost cutting device by the studio so location shooting on the Sierra RR could be cut.
This was written about in a issue of Narrow Guage and Shortline Gazzete a few years ago, the article was written by the guy who built the models, and also did models for Star Trek and other shows of that era. It included photos of the models.
The Cannonball is a Baldwin 4-6-0 still operated by the Sierra RR as #3 , though i could be wrong about this, and the Shorty combine is still around too, but I dont know if its still used.
Any Sierra RR buffs out there can clear this up?

About the original post time of this thread, the TV Land cable network played what looked like the pilot episode for “Petticoat Junction.” I just happened to come across it.

Also, another interesting thing to note is that back in the 60’s when the show was on, Tyco made an HO model of the Hooterville Cannonball. While on the show it’s just the combine, the set also contained 2 other passenger cars. These sets are highly collectable and very valuable today. Boxed sets on ebay always go for $300 or more. And to think that it cost $29.98 originally.
