the irony of legacy return

now that I sent my base and remote to be upgraded with fixes for bugs in original release, now lionel shows my GS-4 as being shipped this month to dealers and ultimately to me and still can’t play and see its new features till return of upgraded legacy system how frustrating is that. oh well at least when I do get it back will have enhanced play time. way funny how things seem to work out.

But… Its better than waiting for the engine to come, and start running it and realize how great the legacy system is and then have to do without it for 2 weeks!

Be patient. Lionel is doing the right thing here by having us return our base unit and remotes. Since a root problem is with the internal programs on the microchips you definitely want someone who knows what they are doing to perform this upgrade. This is akin to reloading the BIOS on your PC. If done incorrectly you can render the system completely useless and I mean completely. Then you have to take the PC to a repair shop where they undoubtedly will charge you a hefty sum to fix the BIOS.

I have the Legacy System as well as the Chessie GP-30 and I can tell you it will definitely be worth your wait for the return. I can’t wait to see what Legacy engines are in next year’s catalogs. I just hope and pray the one I’ve been waiting for is there and it doesn’t get cancelled like many of the other items they’ve been ‘promising’.

I sent a lengthy email to Lionel Customer Service last week and suggested they use their website to solicite request for items. If anyone else would like to see this then send them an email and suggest it. IMHO if Lionel gets enough requests for a certain item and it makes sense to manufacture it then they will. They won’t have to announce a product and hope for x# of preorders for the item, they will have some level of certainty that the product will sell.

At least Lionel is asking for them now, during the summer months. I think with outdoor things to do I will make it through this without complaint.
