Having so many projects in mind, and only one ever completed, I wi***o compile a list of tools and supplies that would be extremely useful for kitbashing projects. I don’t have much to work with personally, but hopefully, the contributed to this list will allow me to create a ‘Kitbasher’s Toolbox’ of my own, and finally start some projects I’ve been wanting to. I’ll start the list by listing what I have. (Not much, I know.)[:I]
Hobby Knife Set
Small Screwdriver Set
Cyanoacrylate Adhesive (CA)
Styrene Sheets
Small Razor Saw
Please, feel free to contribute any tools that you have in your toolbox now, or that you feel would be great for kitbashing.
Let’s see-
A decent set of jewelers files or two, one for plastic and one for brass (if you’re going to do brass)
A Xuron tool, great for more than cutting track! Good to trim plastic, metal, etc…
A small metal combo square and straight edge.
And a small paper punch, one of the one handed jobs- Great for starting windows or door openings, punch a hole in the styrene and trim the remaining plastic away.
Scribing a opening in a sheet and getting it out while keeping it square and not breaking the sheet is possible, but takes some practice!
That should get you started- but think Dremel as soon as possible too!
