The man who knows everything.......

He drives this route every few weeks to visit his mother so, for some reason, he feels comfortable to stand that close to the train??? Just watch…

My Dad was an engineer, too and he would have lit up my backside had he caught me that close - camera or no camera!

The sound was amusing, even though the forays inside the gate were unnerving.

Loved the well-maintained track (yes, I know whose it was!)–especially the spot visible for so long, close to the crossing, where pumping has made the rails white with dried mud.

The know-it-all is virtually clueless.

Three hours to Omaha from Dunlap?[(-D] It’s probably not even going to Omaha! More likely the Blair sub.

An overnight stop?[(-D]

I didn’t grow up in a RR family, but I know more about RR operation than this guy.

Too bad an eastbound didn’t come along just as the tail end of that westbound passed him…

He’s one of those FRN types that give railfans a bad name. To bad the RR police weren’t around to give him a trespassing citation.

[censored] What a complete moron…he is the kind of person who gives all of us railfans a bad name in the minds of the “non-railfan” population. Carl, you are being very kind when you called him “VIRTUALLY” clueless.

According to Mythbusters you can stand as close to the tracks as you want and not have a problem. As usual what do they know?

My dad was with the Pennsylvania - and let me tell you, had he seen me walk around the gates and up to a moving train like that - I’d have been in more trouble than you could imagine. It’s disturbing that this gentleman says that because his dad was a rail he knows it’s safe to do this.

I like the overnight stop, find a hotel, line too! [:D]

…and some people wonder why I think so you should have a permit to reproduce. LOL

See below…

I like the part where he is standing in the middle of the other track, with his back to any traffic headed his way…add in the amount of noise, and the fact he doesn’t seem to ever look behind his self, he is?

A: Lucky.

B: A moron.

C: Clueless about how trains operate.

D: All of the above.

I’m going to have go with: D: All of the above.

Take a look at this video, also by Mr. Windbag:

What a clueless idiot!

I was trying to be charitable, Jim. He did, after all, recognize (a) the railroad, (b) a train, (c) locomotives, and (d) containers. I think he knew where he was.

Other’n that, though…clueless.

Willy, from the other video, I’d say he’s also a slow learner!

Think of the poor engineer who didn’t know if he was going to fall or jump in front of his train.

How about the train comming on the other track!

Did those two extra feet closer to the track really help his video? Had he stayed on the concrete behind the gates he would’ve been fine and his video would’ve been no better or worse.

I really enjoy these videos because he uses what pro cameramen call “the firehose technique”.

Should come with a Dramamine warning.

Umm…right. A half-mile is a LONG train. What a blowhard.

I’ve been around the railroad all my life too, and my dad (an Engineer/Road Foreman) would womped me, if I ever got that close. Or spouted rubbish like that.

I work for the RR and don’t take as much for granted as this guy. If I saw any of my employees acting that way, we’d be having a little chat in my office.

Nick

I was waiting for a ‘Fade To Black’.

Wow, what a fool. I love how he just yacks and yacks… “Oh, I drive by this but every couple of weeks to vist my Mom. Since I have a camera, and I vist my mom, I am better than you which is why I stand so close to the tracks…but dont you do it…cause I am speacial…”

Tool bag.

Yeah, that 1/2 mile long train, full of container thingys, that had just pulled out of the rest stop after spending the night doing 35 miles and hour… you next time, go ahead and try and catch it.

OH well, I did find amuseing. One thing is for sure, as a self proclaimed “wanna-be rail fan”, he sure made me feel really smart about trains…
