The Maw westward slow....

Hi

matt and I saw the maw putting some sulphur tank cars west of Krouse road(which is west of the FC diamond) Word is that CSX has some bulkhead flats for the Maw to store as well. The track has been used very little over the years.Hopefully they can pull the cars back out when done.

Better hope that is not FRA Excepted Track. Even residual amounts of bad stuff are still considered hazardous when placcarded empty.

If they can’t pull them I’m sure they can roll them! Sorry- couldn’t resist, their track needs some major tlc.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does the “Maw” refer to? I’m guessing it’s an old unused branch line that’s used to store rolling stock on?

MAW is the Maumee & Western, a shortline operating over a former Wabash main line in northwestern Ohio. It crosses (and interchanges with) CSX at Defiance.

Does this apply to ORM-C or just more hazardous stuff?

Carl thank you for the clarifacation. The maw was embargoed(still might be) for bad track.I have seen the maw mow operations. It is like trying to cover a boxcar with a band-aid.there are bridge issues near cecil ohio as well.we’ll keep you posted.

stay safe
