Henry, is that the “Field Of Lost Shoes” from the Battle Of New Market? I have visited that battlefield, and the story is amazing. True heroic actions and sacrifice.

Yep where they marched the cadets from VMI 80 miles from Lexington, where 10 died, including Thomas Jefferson, nephew of TJ and one with the unfortunate name of Jaqueline Beverly Stanard. That’s worse than a boy named Sue.
Henry, You live in one of the most beautiful areas I have ever visited. The scenery in that part of Virginia is just breathtaking.
I hope the rest of your life is as wonderful as the setting.

Good Evening
It’s good to have the Lion back around again. I seen he had ribs for breakfast this morning[:^)] I hope your friends ribs heal up soon Lion, if they’re all still intact[:|]
Ed that former reading railroad bridge is something else. I lost count of the arches at number 29 somewhere down there in the vanishing point of the thing. I could see there was more and who knows how many more on the other side out of the right side of the picture.
I picked up Judy from work this evening and took her to the Rusty Taco and then over to Cold Stone for a treat. Stuffed and getting tired here[|)]
For some reason I only got three hours of sleep last night so I think I’ll be hitting the rack early tonight.
Have a great evening everyone[;)]

Fifty one arches, TF! Roughly 3500 feet long.

Good evening everyone.
We went for our second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today. This was also the first day that Florida allowed anyone to come to the state vaccination site without an appointment.
It was complete pandemonium. There must have been 500 people there, all screaming about how long they had to wait.
Fortuntately, once we were in the door and they verified we had an appointment from 4 weeks ago we went right to the front of the line. I was so relieved they were honoring the previously assigned appointment times.
We were in and out in about 45 minutes. I could not get out of there fast enough. I was amazed how rude people were being to the workers. All these people showed up with no appointment on the first day of this chaos and thought… well, I do not know what they were thinking.
We were out of there quickly enough that I had time to go buy the knight statue for the front of the house.
Sir Knightlight is now in his proper location.
I am really happy with this little guy. Now I will not be walking into that low hanging lantern again. If you ever want to know what a $250.00 solution to a two-bit problem looks like… there you are.
The new garage door is only a couple of weeks away!
This house across the road from me will be for sale very soon. I do not like getting new neighbors. Hopefully the new inhabitants will be good people. The problem with this house is that it was purpose-built as a retirement home. It is a one-bedroom loft with a small office. It is not set up for a family. I am afraid a hard-partying single guy might end up in it.
Or worse, it could become another weekly rental party house. We already have one of those on the next street over.
Nothing is blooming in my yard. As I drove to the vaccination site today I saw Crape Myrtels, Royal Poincia
Got my second shot Sunday, still strictly appointments here. Smooth as clockwork.
Kevin, the statue is nice.
Sheldon
Hi Kevin,
I like the statue, but I have one question. Have you anchored it permanently to the base? Pardon me for being paranoid, but I fear that it is a sitting duck for someone to push it over or haul it away. Hopefully your neighborhood doesn’t suffer from those problems, but you can never say never.
Dave
Thank you. When we went to get it, they had a statue of Artemis that really tempted me. I decided that I really did not want a statue in a dynamic pose, and went for the very column-like knight as originally planned.
It is not anchored.
I have not 100% decided to leave it on the brown base stone. I am thinking I might just put the round cast-in base on the plinth and fill it in with gravel around it.
I am not sure the best way to anchor it once I make up my mind. I hope Loctite PL-500 landscape glue would be a good solution. It sure would be easy.

Our son Cole did a little construction project for us on Saturday. He changed the steps leading from our patio door down to the deck so that the first step is level with the floor inside. Previously the first step was below the threshold so when you went out the door you had to immediately step down about 7 1/2". When we put the new patio door in last year, the sill height increased by about 1" so stepping down to the first step became a bit of a stretch. Now with the floor inside and the step outside at the same level going out the door is very comfortable.
Dave
Aww Kevin you should have gotten a weeping angel
Great clip.
I wanted the statue centered underneath the light, so anything more than 10 inches wide would have gone over the driveway.
I saw a couple of great angels, but they were too wide.

Dee Ann and I got our first doses last Tuesday. Geauga County Health Department handled everything. The online registration and appointment were easy, got a confirmation email along with the .pdf form to fill out so you could have it filled out and ready to go.
The site was at the county fairgrounds and vehicles proceeded around the huge site easily. Guides were stationed every couple hundred feet to help you along the way.
They only do either dose 1 or dose 2 for certain scheduled days, no mixing them up. Our total time at the site was 25 minutes and fifteen of that was an observation/rest period where they made sure you were doing OK, then you were free to leave.
I thanked everyone I encountered profusely. It was chilly that day and I’m sure most, if not all, were volunteers.
Let’s watch part II of the Erie + Lackawanna scene [8D]

Good morning
Fell asleep early last night. Judy woke me off the recliner at 9:30 and said I was snoring by 7:30. Up early this morning caught up with my sleep and feeling good today.
I’m glad you and Dee Ann are getting things squared away with your vaccines so your safe Ed. Judy got hers three weeks ago. I’m sorry to say I don’t dare get mine. My many allergies I’ve had since childhood, anything ever given to me with a chance of a reaction, there always was.
Thanks for some more train videos you added to our Tour. I’ll watch them later as wifey’s still sleeping right now. 51 arches eh? [:P] I’m going to add that to my list of places to see.
I’m planning another road trip like your doing Kevin for next Winter and adding places to go. Our tour of the south as I called it at Christmas time a few years ago, we never had so much fun. Having no Idea where we were going through the Ozark Mountins on Christmas Day and not knowing where the next gas station would be was a little freaky though.
Just wanted to compliment you on that Trestle you built again. That thing is a masterpiece! I like Sir Lancelot you put next to the garage. He should make you feel right at home with your war gaming. I agree you should exterior urethane adhesive or bolt him down so some night hellions don’t rip him off[:(!]
The birds sure sound excited about spring this morning. They’re singing before the sun comes up. I’d have to say I share their enthusiasm.
Well another coffee is in order.
Have a great day y’all[;)]

TF, my wife had an allergic reaction to a medication a few years ago that caused her throat to try to swell shut. Luckily we got to the ER in time. Even with that, she talked to her doctor (ENT) about it and got the shot. The doctor simply wanted her to stay at the hospital (where they were giving the shots) for 30 minutes after instead of 15, and then stay relatively close for the rest of the morning. She was fine. I know everyone reacts differently, but for what it’s worth, her case was one of high concern and she was okay.
Good Morning All,
Drizzly morning out there today. Still buried in shop stuff but making progress. Got the hydraulic lift gate fixed and luckily it was just a broken wire in the pendant cable that controls it.
Now that we have closed on the house we are starting to do the little list we had of changes, repainting one room, shower fixtures, etc. Still boxing stuff at the present house after shop hours. All the train stuff is on pallets in my storage building and we’ve started cutting the tables apart.
Kevin I admire your diligence. I second the thought that you should anchor Sir Knightlight perhaps some lags or similar would be in order. I am sure you can come up with an elegant solution.
W…k beckons. Ciao, J.R.
I can’t believe no one has said this yet…
Would Loctite PL-500 Landscape adhesive be the right choice? I do not see a good way to run fasteners through the base.
That was another enjoyable film.
And… this is a great picture.
I will need to come up with something.
Great to see you back J.R.

Good morning. The sun is shining, and the forecast is for a high of 65°. About as perfect a day as we can have.
The Orioles all showed up and are having breakfast at our house. Not only do they like the jellies, but they also are eating the safflower seeds. No better sign of our spring than to see those bright orange birds at the house.
I think it’s been discussed before, but the Ozarks has the best Christmas display I’ve ever seen at Silver Dollar City. Amazing!

Headed out to continue planting grass. Have a good day.
Hi Kevin
That would work. But after years of moisture, humidity and freezing I’ve seen landscape caps work loose on their own eventually. Of course you don’t have any frost down there.
Trust this force Luke[(-D]
This is their 10 times as strong top-of-the-line stuff. There ain’t no better but you will need a Sawzall if you ever want to remove it.
