In the basement between my “furnace and hot water heater” lies the MARS. New Beau City, the largest City in the country, is served by a number of railroads including the Mid Atlantic Railway System. There the Grand Central Terminal receives a multitude of trains each day. And it is there that this story begins.
With increasing industrialization, New Beau City, like many large cities in America, has been plagued with choking levels of pollution. It was not long before not only the city fathers, but the New York State legislature were looking for ways to improve conditions. The result was legislation that forbid the use of coal fired steam locomotives in the city proper. The Mid Atlantic Railway System under the wise leadership of Theodore Goodman, III, was aware of this coming legislation and quickly moved to build the necessary infrastructure to support the use of electric locomotives in the heart of the city.
Here you see the arrival of the MARS’ first electric locomotive, a T-3a, as it pulls beneath Grand Central Terminal in New Beau City.
