The More Things Change...

The more they stay the same.

Just finished reading the Talgo story in the January issue, and couldn’t help noticing how the profile shot of the assembled trains so closely resembled a similar shot of UP’s old M-10000 that was featured in the “Streamliners” special issue a few years back.

That new snout they designed is very reminiscent of the M-10000

And the thinking that went in to Wisconsin losing the trains goes even further back, to, say, perhaps the 1800s?

Wisconsin’s new motto: “One step forward, two steps backward.”

Yes Carl, and I also became more than a little peaved when I read in the article that Wisconsin had stopped paying its contractural obligations recently…whatever became of the notion that your word (as in CONTRACT) is your bond?

That wasn’t Carl talking, Jim…it was another Jim! Still, I think the residents of the state have every right to be frustrated at this whole thing.

Signed, the real

Whoops, my bad!

I guess for some, taxpayer subsidized passenger rail has about as much appeal as the Obamaphone?

Convicted One:

I had an 027 model of that UP M-10000 passenger train by {Marx Co}…That must have been about 1939 or so…

I’ll bet that was sweet! Wouldn’t it be great to still have that?

Oooo, I sense a politically incorrect joke opportunity here; but I’ll let it pass so as to not get the thread locked…
