I seem to recall some horror stories in the early days of Amtrak and some of the fuel filler headaches. Didn’t the Empire Builder get stalled once in the middle of winter because of water being pumped into the fuel tank? Or was it the steam generator that was disabled by fuel being dumped into the water tanks.
Either way it was a mess.
