The Natioinal Railways of Mexico

I’ve always had a fascination with the Mexican National Railways. They ran Steam into the 60’s and ran most of the same equipment that the US and Canadian Railways ran plus some exotics like EMD’s GA8and Baldwin Centipedes.Anyhow,I’d love to correspond with some Modelers of the NdeM.

Well, I “model” them, but not necessarily prototypically. But I’m always up for a discussion of railroading in Mexico. I’ve emailed you separately.

Regards

Ed

Ed and Doc,Many Thanks. It Helped Me Out A Little.Hopefully,Some Other People Can Fill Me In,But Once Again,I Just Wanna Thank You Guys For Your Replies. Thanks,John T.Patterson.

I took a closer look to the NdeM thanks to the new Athearn units that are coming out in late 2k5/early 2k6. I just recently got married, and my wife is Mexican, and thought this would make a nice addition to the new layout we are building.

After looking around on Ed’s railimages page, another question popped in my head… What type of passenger cars did the NdeM F7 units pull? After the Athearn Genesis units arrive, I am thinking about constructing a passenger train for them.

From What I Saw In Morning Sun Books’“The NdeM In Color”,They Pulled A Myriad Of Types.Primarily North American Heavyweight Standard and Surplus US Streamlined Cars In Addition To Some Homebuilt and European Style Passenger Cars As Well.Have You Noticed That The TRIX U.P.Caboose Looks A Lot Like Some NdeM Cabooses? If You Ever lok At Any Books Like 'NdeM In Color’and 'North American Freight Cars:Cabooses From The American Southwest’You’ll Se. Write Back.

Thanks, I am going to have to look into getting that book.
