I can’t see anymore mergers. I think the railroads have pretty much kicked the heck out of this. The only mergings may involve shortline with shortline and class 1 with a shortline. Depends on what they have plans for.
A class 1 could also decide to not merge but completely take over a shortline. I agree with the majority here. I don’t see any mergers happening anytime soon. It seems as if the class 1’s don’t see any need to merge, since they are financially sound.
Apparently, you need to re-examine the concept of competition and the laws requiring it in both the U.S. and Canada. A CP and CN merger could never happen as it would violate those laws in a myriad of ways…

So I guess that would result in Great Lakes & Atlantic would it? and they would take QR off the Queensland govenrment hands thus creating PNQ, I think that would be cool.
