Built new as Hopewell July 1910, rebuilt as Passaic May 1929. Assigned to PRR trains (painted red after 1920) until rebuilt, then Pullman pool (most likely in PRR/NH through trains). Ice Air conditioned 1935, to NYNH&H 1945 retired 1948.
Plan 2416 for its entire life, 26 Parlor seats, 1 Drawing Room and a smoking room.
You do need to download the database. It’s available in excel format or other formats suitable for spreadsheets. If you search “Pullman plan 2416” there’s a link to a book on Pullman cars that includes a diagram you can see on line.
Using the Pullman Project’s database took a little bit of thinking on how to find what I wanted, but it contains a mind-boggling amount of detail.
A couple of things to note - Although the car was assigned to PRR trains it was owned by Pullman until the 1945 sale, so it never had a PRR number (PRR did have some cars of plan 2416 after 1945). I checked the 1950 Pullman car list (Wayner 1977) and it was gone, so the Pullman Project’s 1948 retirement date is believable. The car’s original 1910 construction date coincides with the opening of Penn Station, for which PRR required all-steel cars.
