Well after a year the HO CPR Canadian full train sets has finally arrived.
Rapido gave out the container number and I have been tracking it since it left Hong Kong April 12th. The shipment arrived today at its destination, Rapido.
Now to wait for the units to be shipped to the distributors, and then on to the customers.
I live an hour from the Port of Price Rupert, the shipment arrived in Prince Rupert April 30th around 2 pm and was shipped out by rail just shy of midnight.
My set was in that shipment as it went by. My set will be mailed to me from Virginia. That is nearly twice across North America.
I asked Jason this weekend what was happening… The shipment should be in Toronto now, so it will probably be delivered on Tuesday. So later this week, they will start going out.
It does look nice.
i even saw the packaging complete with rye glass, napkins and swizzle sticks, And I do have a “The Canadian” lapel pin now.
The container was emptied today in Brampton, would expect delivery tomorrow.
I mean you can not get much closer to Toronto, without being there than Brampton. So now the container will be pooled until it is needed or will be returned empty back to its owner.
There are a lot more containers coming in from Asia than are going to Asia from North America.
Funny, it used to be a rarity to see logs shipped to Asia. Now with so many sawmills and pulp mills closed a large porportion of logs are now being shipped to Asia instead of being turned into lumber. In this area alone, three large sawmills have been shut down and two large pulpmills. That represents a lot of logs not need in the area nowl
I can not believe how many containers I see being filled with logs locally and are sent to Asia.
In Prince Rupert entire log booms are being loaded onto ships destined for the Asia market.
Yes it is the wish of our dear leader Stephen Harper that we remain a colonial economy. We ship our raw materials to the mother country and in return we take their manufactured goods.
While we are adding wish lists, I’ll feel like that if and when Rapido produces the Grande gold/silver Pull-man Standard Prospector cars - originally ordered by the C&O, but who’s production slots were taken by the D&RGW.
Although I’m a southend Monon fellow, I prefer the gold-and-black myself. But I’d take either Monon passenger train unless a choice between the two was offered.
Does the expression “hewers of wood–drawers of water” sound familiar? try shipping out billions of barrels of oil that is not refined in Canada, when will we learn?
Got a question: Can anyone tell me for sure if the “Canadian” (the REAL train) in its introduction ever had green tinted glass, I’m sure it did not, IF it did, it must have been a lighter shade of green than its American counterparts. I made a few trips on it and it’s hard to tell from the inside if windows are tinted, but my recollection is they were clear, maybe later they were tinted, anyone confirm my question?
I used to ride the CPR Canadian as well as the GN and NP passenger trains. The GN and NP were tinted a bit darker green than the CPR green which was very light.
