Sorry, the premise of this post was to suggest that CSX has a bunch of alphabets in it’s bowl (L&N,B&O,C&O,WM,ect.,and yes CR), but too small of a spoon to handle them (management[;)]).
Should have looked for a can of alphabet soup.
I thought you were indicating there was no opener, therefore, no proper way to operate the system.

Good catch ValleyX. I should have used alphabet soup. It would have been a lot less confusing (where would the world be without noobs). I don’t hate CSX, I would just like to give them a proverbial kick in the pants every now and again. There is a pretty rich L&N heritage around here and I’m also a fan of the old Chessie “black diamond” trains. It’s just a shame what the love of money can do (and a lack of maintenance). I have to like NS by default because I have several family members who worked for them. However, even if I didn’t like NS, they win hands down as the better railroad in my opinion. I can’t totally blame CSX since most of the high profit traffic is now east-west land bridge and powder river coal for the commodity side. Aside from the CR acquisition in NY, CSX has mainly CTC north-south corridor lines. Not too many containers are coming from Taiwan through the Gulf of Mexico these days.
For christ sakes, ENOUGH WITH THAT WEBSITE! How many times does anyone have to tell you that? CSX has just as many problems as other railroads. Maybe they arent in the best state, but its not like everyone else is perfect, and only CSX derails. ALL RAILROADS DERAIL, ALL RAILROADS HAVE PROBLEMS! Alec

Thats correct Alec, all RR’s have problems they are not perfect. Yes NS may have 15 Saftey Awards (I belive) but they have derailments and crashes it happens sadly. Like your CNW they weren’t perfect they crashed and derailed as well as the other RR’s. My point is stop with the web site we know that exsist we don’t need to know anymore about what your telling us then what we already know.
I thought CP or CN derails more one of those derailed 4 times in 2 weeks or had problems with derailing their trains. I can’t remember

ONE SITE “lowered your opinion” on a railroad? The guy running that site has dug DEEP to find the worst he can find. Also, think for a moment: If he’s trying to make CSX look like a horrid railway, don’t you think he’d have the audacity to lie a little bit to achieve that? You have no guarantee that the bathrooms shown are on CSX locomotives. They may well be. I don’t know. My point is, you can’t let one variably (un)reliable source of information change your opinion.

B&O, C&O, and later WM became “Chessie System.” L&N, SCL, Clinchfield, and various small railroads became “Family Lines,” later known as “Seaboard System.” Chessie and Seaboard merged to form CSX Transportation, in 1987. CR came in later, around 2000.

Actaully, Statistically speaking, CSX has a horrible maintenance issue they have failed to overcome.
According to Statistics Canada and data compiled over the last hundred years, CN derails More the the CPR.
That is a statistical fact.
CSX fails miserably in the maintenance and upkeep or their track, And considering I have a fair amount of RR maintenance under my wing- I’m being brutally honest when I say, Unless you can visually see the train on the tracks, you would not know if CSX tracks were abandoned or not.
CSX tried to sue that site. read that whole article about it. they failed miserably and the webmaster got benefits
and seriously, jonathon, shut up. yes i see your below post. i HAVE a life. it’s watching trains. and until you can prove how the CSX-sucks creator faked defeating a massive corporation on his own, then CSX is lame because until then, it shows they’re morons and weak if a simple person can defeat them in a lawsuit. honestly
