Akron OH…Rubber Workers were avoiding the Interurban and the streetcars in favor of freelance cab drivers known as jitneys…The Interurban protested that the Jitneys were “Stealing there passengers” so the city of Akron made sure that all cabbies were licned and limited the number of Cab Co’s in the city.
I heard it was because they smelled funky and none of them spoke english. [:D][:D]

With most cabbies, a speedometer and speed signs are decorations.
Decorations? Nope the end of the speedometer is a goal! Driving on the sidewalls is encouraged and an art form.
Oh and turning in the seat to look at you while screaming down the Dan Ryan at 90+ to ask if your still going to the BNSF motel, is a must!
