The Roundhouse: Episode 24
I loved the story about Armstrong visiting Jim’s multi-deck railroad and stating “I always wondered if it would work”. Jim is surely a treasure to MR and the hobby, thanks.
Great episode! Love hearing Jim tell us about his past experiences over the years!
I always enjoy hearing Mr. Hediger and also look forward to his articles. When I got back into model railroads in the early 80’s I really loved his Paint Shop features. From his articles I learned to paint and decal my own cars, locos, etc. Thanks for many hours of enjoyment Jim!
More great stories from a fellow who appears to be one of the nicest guys ever to shepherd along our great hobby. You should auction off lunch with him some time!
Love all the stories from the “old heads”. Please keep them coming. Get as many of these guys who are still around on Roundhouse, before their accounts disappear forever.
One of the best episodes yet. Jim truly is a treasure to both the magazine and the hobby.
One of life’s pleasures for me was meeting Jim during a personal tour David Popp gave me. He’s the real deal and after reading his articles all these years, I felt like I was being re-introduced to an old friend. In that regard, all the folks I met there were amazingly friendly and felt like family. Great interview, very enjoyable!
Thanks,
-Tom
Always enjoy reading and listening to Mr. Hediger. He is one of the reasons I have stayed with MR. Thank you for all your stories and humor. A true old head!

Jim Hediger is an icon in model railroading. I’m from Detroit and knowing the guys that Jim enjoyed the hobby with here, who always spoke highly of him. And having met him on a couple occasions. All I can say is Jim is the best!
Living in Australia, I haven’t had the chance to meet Jim Hediger in person. But I feel I know him through his long history with MR and via the Hediger videos. I certainly echo his statement that model railroading is a great form of camaraderie and I too have met many people, some who became close friends, through the hobby. Keep those great stories coming - much appreciated Jim.
Excellent episode of Roundhouse. I can listen to Jim’s stories all day. Historic and interesting. I got a real laugh out of John Armstrong’s quip about the helix and if it would really work!
Great History lesson during this episode. I remember Linn Westcott and John Armstrong from growing up reading Model RR magazine. I also read the magazine from cover to cover.
Thanks a lot.

I would love a show on the life and times of Emery Gulash. I enjoy his videos and would like to know more about him. I’m sure Jim Hediger has great info.
Nice seeing Jim at lombard hobbies today thursday. Have a nice retirement
