The scales you never here anything about

The scales I never see advertised or listed are Z, OO, and S. I don’t know why. I just never see them. Do you?[?]

no, but what about TT, Zm, Nn3, or V (what the heck was that?!?)

how about F,IS,H scales?
scales of justice - very difficult also

The reason you never see much about S scale is that S advertising in concentrated in two non-Kalmbach magazines: The S Gaugian and the S/Sn3 Modeler. Look in these publications and you will see lots of advertising for S scale products. Thanks…Ed Loizeaux

For S scale also check out this site http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sscale.html for an over view of what is available.

Hey krump, what’s H scale!?

Maybe he means H1 scale (Half 1) which was the original designation of S scale in England. They have since changed to S.

and what is IS??

[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] - I thought the scales of justice would be the give away that the F I S H scales [:p] are usually found near the water…[;)]

  • that explained, I have no idea how to use the “quote” function.
scales that I like are HO (modelled), S and G (future?)… I also really like N, but I don’t have the skills for something that detailed[:(]. N scale generally catches my attention (until recently I didn’t even know there was a Z scale)
    have a great day all…

Speaking of Z scale, yesterday I seen two Z scale layouts.

In the US, OO is moribund. There are a few holdouts, but little, if anything is available commercially.

In England, HO guage track was used with 4mm scale, both to accomodate available motors, and to give some size to diminutive English prototypes. (British OO continues to flourish.) When 4mm scale came to the US, American OO modelers widened the track guage to 19mm.

However, HO appeared in the US about the same time, and eventually overwhelmed OO. There used to be a fellow named Temple Nieter, a long-time OO enthusiast, who would make sure the rest of the hobby didn’t forget, and who kept in contact with the active OO modelers. But Mr. Nieter passed away some years ago, and no one, AFAIK, has stepped up to take his place.
