“The new BNSF locomotive paint scheme is becoming a more common sight across the BNSF rail system. BNSF took delivery of 34 new GE model ES44DC locomotives, unit numbers BNSF 7744-7777, sith the new orange, black and yellow paint scheme.
Each day, newly painted units are added to the BNSF fleet. By the end of 2005, BNSF will have added to its fleet 67 ES44DC locomotives painted in the new paint scheme, for a total of 101, with unit numbers BNSF 7778-7799 and BNSF 7605-7649. Additionally, BNSF will receive 90 GE model ES44AC locomotives with the new paint scheme.
A small number of existing locomotives, 30 to 40, are scheduled for repainting as they come up for class overhauls or wreck repairs.”
Hmmmmm.
Still looks like that logo came from a 1980s Toothpaste box. While modern, I just can’t see what is so “eye catching” about it. Looks more like a money saving move as far as decal costs. Size and colors are factors in the price of decals. Same thing, if automotive paint is being used for logos.
Still, the Santa Fe styled lettering was so much more attractive.
But now, it’s neither here nor there as indeed Santa Fe is gone forever. Best wishes to BNSF.
Darn you BNSF long live the Santa fe!!!
