I am always looking for great track plans, (not to copy, but to ejoy as a window into the layout). I would love to see all of yours. As a matter of fact, I’m making it a contest out of it. The winner will be chosen by all of you and your votes. I will make the final tally in two weeks from Saturday.
Happy planning and voting![:D][yeah]
(PS, unfortunately, I lack the equipment to upload my track plan, so you won’t be seeing mine. I’m sure it pales in compairison to yours, but it may have held it’s own.)[:-^]
Just saying “the Best Track Plan” is like saying the best music or food. What is the layout room like? What will its purpose be? Switching, running, country, rock, gospel, snack, pancakes, spaghetti etc. etc.
Sorry, Boston. Your request is unnecessary. It seems that this quorum’s participants are already more than willing to share their track plans for criticism or adoration. Further, a competition without parameters is meaningless, and perhaps we’ve all had our fill with contests this season.
Boston, in my short time on this forum, we all seem to have become a jaded and hardened bunch who have become a bit cranky and tired, maybe bored is better, with the type of question you have posed. These topics run several pages historically and then end with a bang and a locked thread because people have become testy and have begun to pick the fly poop out of the pepper.
I contributed to it myself by asking the questions of the type that comprise your responses above. Best means different strokes to different folks in the hobby. Some guys won’t build anything but a small linear shelf switching layout, not because they don’t have more room or time or interest in other layouts, but because they define “best” at the time as what they create and use. Others want a spaghetti bowl crammed with convoluted and curved tracks. Others like a loop or two “best”.
Therefore, your question is an invitation to post what each one of us likes best, which may or may not be what we have in mind for future development or what is extant in our layout space at the moment. You will receive, if they play along, thousands of current “bests” that end up being meaningless except to you and them…everyone else reading will scratch their heads and find themselves disagreeing, at least in part…which leads to questions, comments, and ultimately a dead in the water thread.
Sorry for the long post, but that’s the way I see it, and I think if you re-read the few comments you have already, you’ll be able to read between my lines.
