what a classic movie!!..everytime i see it i always tell myself that i would love to model that train just for some nostalgia…does anyone know any manufacturers that make that???..i don’t need gene wilder with it…[:D]
The locomotives are Canadian National FP9, the FP7 is generally close enough. In HO, the FP7 was imported by Atlas from Roco for many years, and a completely new model was recently announced by InterMountain.
For the passenger cars; the Walthers’ cars are pretty close.
The Silver Streak was filmed on C.P.R. lines from the Crowsnest pass to Lethbridge, Alberta: the engine was (is) CP 4070, a GMD FP7A (1952) I believe the coaches were old Budd-built cars from the “Canadian” plus some smooth sides. The reason it was filmed in Canada, the U.S. deemed it would put a bad image of trains to the public there, I guess Canadians felt it gave credit to the railways, eh?
Hello,A friend of mine has a G gauge Silver Streak,I don’t know the brand name. I have two Silverstreak engines by Tyco that still run great,Thankyou
I love this movie and have thought about making a model of it myself. Actually, it wouldn’t be too difficult. All you would have to do is get a model of a CP train the same as that used in the movie and then place Silver Streak Logos over top of the CP Rail logos. That’s just what they did on the real train when they made the movie. I while ago I did some playing around on the computer trying to dupicate the logos on the train and have gotten pretty close. I haven’t thought about this project lately, though. Thanks for reminding me.
Check out this link for more detailed information on 4070:

Plus, remember the freight train that passes by near the end and supposedly decapitates Devoreaux (not sure if that’s spelt right)? If you look closely you can see that that switcher is numbered 8100. This engine is an SW1200 switcher. See this link for more information about this engine:

The second FP7 was 4067, but this website doesn’t have a page on it.
flyingyankee616: I have one of those Tyco Silver Streak engines with a matching caboose. They look really great being chromed and everything. Other than having the same name, though, they have no relation to the movie Silver Streak.
